Marion Motor Lodge

"This is a motor lodge. You park in front of your room. For free. The last motor lodge built was probably in the 1979s. This one was likely built in late 1950s. Know one knows for sure. Most of these degenerated into no-tell-motels. Not this one. It has been updated to contemporary standards as far as room decor, furniture and fixtures. Our rooms ( we stayed twice in one week ) each featured a large window style air conditioner handling both cooling and heating. These things are noisy. We just shut them off at night. It is a common flaw in most places we have stayed, but star off for that. Ground floor units will hear the walking and talking in the rooms above. Bring ear plugs. The location is great. It is across from the marina with a view of same from most rooms and the upstairs deck lounge. There is a nice restaurant next door. Staff is helpful and friendly. Price is relatively low for a tourist town."

"This place is beautifully located but our room was not comfortable to be in. It felt outdated and not cleaned properly. The sheets and towels were stained, the sheets had hair only on one side which made me feel like they weren’t changed prior to our stay. I brought my own pillows and blankets in to lay across the bed to sleep. The mattress platform creeks horribly. The floors were visibly dirty. We didn’t want to be barefoot. We showered prior to heading out for the evening and my feet were sticking to the floor at the bathroom sink and there’s stuff splattered on the wall and door behind it that wipe right off. I just rubbed a spot or two but it’s all still there. There was a very small smear of what looked like blood under the bathroom tissue holder that I cleaned off myself because I didn’t want to accidentally touch it given the bathroom was very tight spaced. They sprayed something on the floor at the end of the bed that didn’t dry and I slipped on it. We layed a bath towel across the area. The iron had water in it which isn’t huge but guests don’t want to pull an iron and see old water sitting in it. Having worked in that field in the past attention to detail is very important. Paying 300 for one night I’d expect a much more comfortable stay than what we experienced."

"The location is great. View amazing. Walking distance to anywhere. The rooms are spacious, but the cleanliness is superficial. We found wet towels in the wardrobe, the corners and around toilet filthy. We had to chase the cleaners to replenish the coffee and creamers for our 2nd night. The bed was creaky on each side."

"This is a nice little place to stay. A short distance to walk to the historical area, shops and restaurants. Nestled on the bay front, the view of the marina and bridge of Lions. We found the room to be clean and neat and we enjoyed our stay. The staff was super friendly and helpful. This is an older motel but they've done a nice job with renovating and making the rooms more modern. Just a few criticisms: there are no towel hooks in the bath/shower area. While the shower area is very nice with the tile, there needs to be a safety handle/grab bar installed in the shower for those that may need that. The shower in our room did not have one installed. The bed slept well enough, however, the pillows were not good in my opinion, but that's a personal preference. Overall, this is a nice place to stay and we would stay again."

"Stayed the night with my wife and our 2 year old. We enjoyed our stay here very much. One of the perks of this place is that parking is included and you're right in the historic district. The front desk lady that checked us in was very pleasant! Rooms are clean, you can smell the freshness as you enter the room! Bathrooms have been recently updated, they provide soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion, towels, etc. Beds are made nicely. We slept well and even though we stayed on the first floor level you still get a wonderful view of the sunrise. Will definitely come back!"
