Abbe's Donut Nook
About the Business
Abbe's Donut Nook is a beloved family-owned bakery located at 2150 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte, Florida. For over 33 years, customers have lined up at 5 am to indulge in our freshly baked donuts and aromatic coffee. Our handmade treats, including Apple Fritters and giant cinnamon rolls, are made from scratch daily.
Due to high demand, we recommend calling ahead to pre-order if you need more than three dozen donuts. Each Abbe's Donut location is independently operated, and we welcome any feedback or suggestions.
Originally founded in Englewood by Jean and Marnon "Abbe" in the 1970s, Abbe's Donut Nook has expanded to multiple locations, including North Port and Port Charlotte. Managed by dedicated owners like Art and Valerie Duncan, our donut shops continue to serve some of the best homemade treats in Southwest Florida.
Join us at Abbe's Donut Nook for a sweet experience where every bite is filled with love. Stay tuned for our upcoming expansion in Englewood in the fall of 2016. Thank you for choosing Abbe's!

"Quite possibly the best cake donut of my life. I went for the simple powdered sugar cake donut, and it was so light and fluffy with the perfect amount of crunch. The glazed yeast donut was also delicious. Can't wait to go back and try more on my next visit to Florida!"
"Every time we come to Port Charlotte from Tampa we have looked forward to having a chocolate cream filled donut from Abbe’s, but today’s visit willl probably be our last. We left super early today to make the 2 hour drive south to be at the door at its 5 am opening. We were met with a great greeting from a near deaf woman who didn’t care about my wife’s desire for there donut or the trip we had just taken. We both felt rushed to order but we were the only customers there. After witnessing a verbal confrontation between the older lady at the counter and the toothless, angrier donut maker we settled on 4 donuts which turned out to be completely different when we arrived at my parents house a few more miles down the road. I always hate using my past experience of being a chef with a love of customer service but these two ladies need to find the love of their job or retire because they just lost this customer and maybe another who shared a similar experience."
"I got there early and I’m glad that I did. Only 1 table inside and nothing outside. There was always a line of at least 3 people and only 1 person behind the counter to help. The Apple Fritters are exquisite as was the German Chocolate Donut. Definitely worth the visit."
"We had heard people raving about the donuts from this place so we were in the area the other day and stopped by. We got a glazed, apple cider, and cream filled. They were all amazing. I have never had a donut with so much filling; apple cider donut was wonderful; and the glazed donut was the best I ever had. I’m not talking about just the flavor but the texture was dense; it almost the texture of a cake. Well worth the money."
"Best Apple fritter on the planet. They offer 2 sizes, a small which is fine for the average person or a large which is ridiculous (ridiculously awesome). All the donuts are huge. Be forewarned they do not take credit. Cash only."
