Forever Vets Animal Hospital at Baymeadows

"Forever Vets is great.... but if your pet dies suddenly or unexpectedly, then not so much. My dog first started getting check-ups here in September. I was told about their wellness plan and it's benefits and figured it would be a good idea to get my girl on the plan for $50/month (which waived all office visit fees). Unfortunately, she got sick in December, and I took her to this location to get seen. Her condition worsened overnight, and I ended up taking her to their affiliated Urgent Care location in Baymeadows. While I didn't have to pay a fee for the regular vet visit, there was a fee at the ER. Sadly, my baby did not make it through the night. The following morning, I received a phone call from their office to check on her, and I let them know about her passing. Two days later, while still at the peak of my grieving process, I logged into their online portal to review her last few visits and medications. They had already deleted her off of my account. It's like she didn't even exist. BUT, there was a bill waiting for me for her wellness plan cancellation (which was already paid for the month of December). I called to ask about the balance and was informed that when pets pass away, they have to cancel the plan and charge for the rest of the year. There was no verbal conversation had prior about the cancellation nor was I even aware or informed that I would have to pay the rest of the year upfront if my baby died unexpectedly. Had I canceled it because I was no longer interested then I could understand the reason.... but she died after being seen twice in less than 24hrs at their facilities. Icing on the cake? They asked if I received the flowers that were sent, which I haven't (yet) at the time of me typing this. The only thing 'delivered' was a bill for services not utilized for a pup that is no longer here with us. There's a level of compassion in their business practices that needs to be reviewed. "I have been using the Baymeadows office of Forever Vets for 6 years now with no less than 4-5 animals (dogs & cats) at any one time. I have only taken my animals there for routine exams & vaccinations. Based on the amount of turnover (vets & office staff), I do not trust them in an emergency situation. I am always speaking with someone new when I call, even when it comes to the managers. They are either not trained well or not enough training but I have had many mistakes made with my appointments, the dates the vaccines were given, a drunk working the desk in grooming, waiting times for appointments was ridiculous. I finally started making my appointments the first one in the mornings. I also started having my dogs being seen for their checkups & vaccines when they go in to be groomed . They messed that up also. One of my dogs was due a vaccine in august. Took him in October & asked for him to see the vet & receive the vaccine sometime while he was there for grooming. Just found out today that he did not receive his vaccine in October that was due in August & it is now December!! Spoke to the manager (a different one again) & all they can do now is apologize & get him in for his vaccine 4 months late instead of 2 months. You are supposed to be notified when something is due. I depend on them to do that. I have too many animals to keep track of it all. Sometimes I get messages & sometimes I don’t. When I inquire, they say “I don’t know what happened “ or “ we don’t understand why you didn’t get notified but we will check into it”. NOTHING CHANGES !! Consequently, my animals are sometimes late with their vaccines. I have now lost all confidence in their office & will be picking up all my animals records tomorrow & finding another vet. DON’T USE FOREVER VETS ON BAYMEADOWS !!!!"

"To say I’m disappointed in this location, specifically, is an understatement. I even slept on it before posting this review, but I still feel adamant about my feelings. My dog got sick on Monday, so I took her there for an emergency appointment. The vet and the tech that day were wonderful. My dog needed surgery and it was scheduled for the next day (yesterday). When I go to drop her off that morning, despite having 3 staff members standing at the front counter and only one other customer, I wait for at least 10 minutes for someone to even ask if they can help me. Once I’m finally helped, the woman must ask me a string of questions that they should have known already considering my dog was just there 12 hours prior. She then proceeds to try and charge me for the full amount even though I had an approved claim with my pet insurance that they facilitated! The same thing happened when I picked her up the night before. I explain this to the woman, and she goes in the back to come out with the correct amount and tells me there will be a 50% deposit. I told her to run the card they had on file. I leave and 15 minutes later I get a phone call from the same woman about the same conversation we just had inside the office. I tell her, again, to run the card on file. A few hours later, I get a call from the vet with an update on my dog letting me know she was able to pass whatever was in her stomach and she no longer required surgery. Fantastic news. She told me someone would call me back with an updated treatment plan. I hear nothing. I call back after hours of no communication, and I’m met with a very upbeat tone telling me how wonderful my dog is doing. This is great news; however, I spent the entire day worried when a simple phone call from them could have eased the stress. The woman apologies and I let it go as I’m just happy to hear my dog is ok. I ask them to run this claim through to my insurance and they assure me they would. An hour or so later, I get a call from another woman wanting to follow up on my visit from the day prior. I was taken aback because my dog was still in their care. How did she not know this? When I tell her that, she’s very confused, and I’m incredibly annoyed at this point with the complete lack of organization. I reiterate them needing to run the claim through, which again, should have been done without me reminding them. When I go to pick her up, I walk in the front door and Christina, one of the same women standing in the front that morning, looks at me dead in my face and proceeds to continue walking to the back with speaking a single word to me. When she comes back out, she clearly has an attitude and says, “are you here to pick up?” No “how can I help you?” No smile. No pleasant tone. Nothing. I get up to the counter and she gives me my total, which again, is the total before the insurance. I tell her that’s not correct and that they owe me a refund as they took a deposit from me this morning. She walks away, without a word, and comes back and says, “actually, we don’t owe you a refund because we never ran your card." I said, "but she called me to run it?" She says, "well, you didn't tell her what card, so we didn't know." For a second I decided I wasn't going to engage, but then said, "ACTUALLY YES SHE DID, but OK." She specifically made it a point to CALL ME to reiterate the total and the card she was charging! She doesn't say another word other than to ask me if I want my receipt emailed. She immediately walked away, and I didn't see her again. I guess they didn't remove the other payment method from my account as I asked them to do the night before because again, lack of organization. I can look past the disorganization, but the SEVERE lack of customer service and basic COMPASSION is where I draw the line. I was so stressed out about my dog, and the financial strain about to be placed on me, and this is what I'm met with? I will be finding another vet simply because of their staff and the lack of customer service."

We were visiting Jacksonville for work from Wilmington NC, our puppy became very ill and we were accepted and treated so well by everyone at Forever Vets Animal Hospital. "After reading many negative reviews about this place, I was considering canceling my first wellness appointment for my 8 week old puppy. I went anyway and they were able to take me back as soon as I checked in. I was offered (not pushed) the wellness plan for my puppy and they were very clear about the benefits it offered. I didn’t feel pressured at all. Dupree took great care of my puppy and went over all the important things I needed to know as a new dog owner and answered all my questions. I left feeling like my puppy was in good hands and most importantly, healthy. Price was also not bad at all."
