Reviews of Help A Child Smile
"I don't even know that it's fair to share my experience with them at this point, but I feel the strong need to share for the sake of potentially advocating for the kids that this office sees now. I haven't been anywhere near a dental office for around 13 years because of the trauma these people caused me as a child. I finally took a chance and got my first professional cleaning after all those years yesterday (at a completely different office) and realized that dental visits aren't actually all literal torment. It was just this office being horrible. I have never forgotten the genuine torture these people put me under as a child, not only physically but also mentally. Even as I grow into a safer feeling with this new dentist, I still can't be anywhere near a dental office without being in a complete state of panic due to the trauma from Help A Child Smile. So much as catching a whiff anywhere of the smell that exists in that office sends me into a panic attack. I have no idea if there's any of the same people on staff now or if their standard of care has changed for the better or worse, but given the reviews I'm seeing, I feel that my experience is still worth sharing. Check in with how your kids feel going to that place. If they hate it, listen to them. Don't just dismiss them as being dramatic because "they're a kid, and it's the dentist." I wish my anxiety and tears about going to that place had been listened to, but they remained my dentistry office throughout my childhood, and that caused (obviously) long-lasting damage psychologically."
"This company needs to be investigated. They came to my child’s school and provided treatment multiple times and didn’t let me know that he had cavities just sent a paper home saying that he needed to do better with his brushing. I took my child to a new Dentist after Help a child smile called notifying me that they were in my area and wanted to do work on my child’s cavities….. so my son had cavities the whole school year and I didn’t get noticed except by voicemail during this summer. I took my child to a new dentist and my son now has to get crowns on several teeth as well as a few teeth extracted. Sad excuse for a Dental Company, you guys need to review your ethics."
"My child was seen and they cannot provide me with information on what they did, his mouth is extremely swollen and it looks like they just cut part of a tooth that has a cavity off instead of doing actual treatment. When I called they continued to make a excuse for me not being aware of what treatment was done to him. Still waiting for a call back to be told what was done to him. Very unhappy I never received a call to know they were going to see my child. He will now no longer be seen by them as they have continually treated him but not let parents know what was treated or that he was being seen."
"We used them bc could not find dentist in area that took our insurance for almost a year! They were WONDERFUL. Yes in hurry but polite and doing the best they can to keep schedule moving. My child who is petrified of dentist felt very comfortable with all the staff! I am so thankful for this service and all the staff for working and dealing with all they do. Thankyou thankyou thankyou excellent service and my child came home encouraged to brush more often to impress them next time!"
