"So I am trying to rent out a home in Tallahassee 1210 Ford st. And I’ve been talking to a Mr. Luis Hernandez and I gave him 1,565 for a refundable application fee, the first months rent and the security deposit. Supposed to move in on the 1st of October. But since then I have not heard from him. I have not seen the inside of the property and that is my fault. He asked me for an additional $300to $500 for an attorney fee, which I have never heard of when renting any place. I am currently homeless and he took me for all of my money tried calling the property agency and they will not answer my phone call. I have also been texting and calling Mr. Hernández but he to has not been answering."
"If I could leave less than 1 star I would! Completely unprofessional! More like a slum lord than a landlord, if you want to move into a clean, affordable and safe place to live- find a different property management company. This one will take your money and screw you over!!"
"Slumlords. They take no accountability for themselves or their properties. If you can ever actually get ahold of them they are combative about anything and everything, and it will always be your fault, even if it's something from prior to you moving in. Good luck if you ever need a service call. The most common words you'll see in the other reviews are unprofessional and rude, because that's all they are."
"THESE PEOPLE ARE A NIGHTMARE, RUN AWAY!!!. Been renting with them for less than a year and cannot wait to move. We have never once had a good experience, it has only been issues from the moment we filled out our application. They claim over and over again that we do not submit payments. We had to actually start writing physical checks and filming ourselves turning them in just to pay our rent. They have still tried to claim multiple times that we didn't pay, even threatening to evict us, but when we show them the videos of us turning in our rent, they suddenly are able to "find" the checks. They claim they send you documents when they don't, and then try to charge you for not filling them out. We had to send our lease back four times before signing because there were mistakes or extra charges included on the lease that we had not agreed to. Every time we had to ask for the lease to be fixed, it took multiple days to hear from them. It is IMPOSSIBLE to reach them by phone, and good luck if you send them something in the online tenant portal, they never check it and never respond. If you are actually ever able to reach them, they are the RUDEST AND MOST UNPROFFESIONAL office I have ever dealt with, and I went to FSU so I've dealt with all the student housing companies, DMB is so much worse. As far as the actual slums they rent out go, nothing will be up to code. When we moved in the house had not been cleaned, and there was major damage including a three foot hole in the wall prior to move in. They assured us there was no holes and the house had been cleaned. It wasn't until we showed up at their office with a pictures and an independent realtor that they agreed to fix things and clean the house. They did half of that, I still had to deep clean the house myself. The damages meant that our move in date was pushed back three weeks so we had to stay with family, the entire time DMB was unresponsive and wouldn't give us updates. If something ever breaks, don't expect it to be fixed. Our pipes leak rust when water first comes out, they refuse to do anything. We have been waiting weeks for them to come fix a leak in the roof. They wont. They have already started showing the home to the next potential tenants, so it seems like they do have the time to come out to the property. We can't even get simple things taken care of (we waited ten months for a copy of our pre-move in damage inspection to be sent to us, we asked with every message that we sent. They also refused to make us a copy when we turned it into their office). I could go on and on, I'm sure they'll try to refute this but we have receipts of all our interactions and photos of all the issues. Their only priority is to rip you off, be smarter than us, don't let them."
"Would not rent with them. Do not trust their website or administrative staff. Their website said a property I was interested in was available on June 1. I needed to move into the house later in June, so I called their office and verified that the property was available, which they said it was. I paid a $160 application fee, submitted all my documents, etc., for two adults. Once I arrived in Florida from Missouri to start my graduate program, they said that the property was unavailable until the following month, and they would not refund my application fee - even though it was their error that the property was listed as available when I needed it to be and they verified that before I applied."
