"Dr Ben saw my daughter yesterday for sick appt. They tested her for Covid and strep which was negative on both. Sent us home stating it’s just a virus and school note she can return the next day. My daughter woke up this morning with 102.8 fever. I kept her home of course and called the doctors office to ask them to extend the return to school date on doctors excuse. After 30min of hold time, they got my information and said they would return my call. They called me back not long after and said they have extended the school excuse and I can pick up from office. They told me to choose which office, I chose the Wilmington island office so I could pick up on my lunch break from work. I drove to that office at 1pm. Office was closed for lunch. I called back to the main site, waited another 15 min to get live person. I explained the situation and asked if the school note could just be faxed or emailed. The rep spoke over me and said “yes ma’am they have to close for lunch”. I said I understand that but I need an alternate way to obtain the form. She Proceeded to tell me they need to take a lunch and have ALWAYS closed for lunch. As if that had anything to do with what I needed from her. I told her I was very agitated that I’m having to take so much time out of my workday to deal with this and can I not just get the note faxed or emailed. She then said I did not need to be nasty to her and told me she was on a recorded line. Somehow she did not see that she was the one being very rude to me and not helpful might I add. I love Dr Ben but dealing with his office makes me want to look elsewhere for a pediatrician. I highly recommend you look at all options for doctors before basing it off recommendations of a great doctor. Keep in mind you have to deal with the office staff and calling into them just as much as you do the doctor. So that too is very important"
