"The "Sensei" in this dojo is always finding ways to charge for every little possible thing after paying for lessons such as the tests to advance onto your next belt, which are not cheap. The "Sensei" will sit down for majority of the class and not teach as he will have one of his head students teach the class but will be happy to put on a show when parents walk in by pretending to teach and interact. The Sensei will teach very valuable lessons on self defense and karate but is very rude to the students when mistakes sometimes attacking the students character/appearance. Location is constantly moving but is always within the same building complex."

"I started training with Sensei Anthony Colon at 13 years old and throughout my 20s and 30s. I achieved black belt here and it is still my proudest accomplishment because of the rigor and quality of Karate training. Even though I now practice Muay Thai and Jiujitsu, my first introduction to mixed martial arts was here. I carry Sensei Anthony's teachings and practices and pass them on to others because I am often asked how to achieve certain techniques by present teammates. "Tri State Martial Arts Institute is dedicated to teaching and the continued practice of traditional Martial Arts . The school focus is the teaching and practice of Shotokan Ryu Karate . Typical training includes kihon (basics), kata, (forms), kumite (sparring). Kata applications include kicks, punches, strikes, locks, and throws. Including karate TSMAI also focuses on the practical applications of the other traditional martial arts which include Wing Chun , Aikido, Okinawan kobudō “weapon systems of Okinawan martial arts“ , Judo, & Japanese Jujutsu. Sensei Anthony is the Chief Instructor and has been training and teaching martial arts for over 40. I have been a student for more than 8 years. Sensei Anthony is truly dedicated to his students success and has become a mentor to many young students. TSMAI is most definitely a place to start your martial arts journey. "Traditional Shotokan Martial Arts. Been going here for many years now and I love it! The teacher, Sensei, know what he's doing and always have something new for you to do. "Joining to this school was one of the best decisions I made. I took Shotokan karate classes here with my cousin as a summer activity, but ended up loving the art and the school, and have been going for years. It was a fun and great experience. The dojo is just a great environment to be in. I feel even more motivated every time step inside the dojo. The sensei on the other hand is nothing short of excellent.
