"The officers at Public safety are a joke. 10/24/23 approx 7:00pm I went to the Hugh L Carey building looking for a meeting. A larger set Caucasian male, public safety officer was sitting behind the Hugh L. Carey hall desk watching a tv show on his iPad , when I came in and asked if the building I was in was the right building that an event was going on in , I did not have my storm card as it was in the car and explained to him I had to grab it , but before I did I just wanted to be sure I was in the right building. He proceeded to catch a attitude because he had to pause his show and yelled “I can’t help you it’s not my job to know where things are and I don’t know who you are so I can’t help you”. I walked out because the udder rudeness was enough for me he did not even want to hear my question on if I was even in the right place. I then left to my car to grab my storm card and I came back to a different officer this time, I explained to him the same thing of what I was looking for because I was genuinely confused on if I was even in the right building, this officer (a poc I might add) actually helped and even searched the address of the building I needed to find himself. Due to the walking back and forth and finally finding out I wasn’t in the right building I missed the meeting. I say all this to say , St. John’s needs to do better in the bad apple public safety staff they Hire and hire more professional officers like the second officer to help the students who spend thousands of dollars to even be here! Had the first officer just listened instead of catching an attitude because I interrupted his show, that mind you,he was watching on the clock, he could have saved us both the time and energy."
