Reviews
"I tired this spot based off the reviews and was disappointed. Got the tonkotsu shoyu ramen and the broth was underseasoned in my opinion. The egg was nearly hard boiled and the dish as a whole was mediocre. Not bad for the price but I was looking for something savory and this just wasn’t."
"Happened upon this restaurant by chance - and absolutely grateful I did! A cute, authentic Japanese restaurant tucked away on 1st Ave that might be easy to miss. It has a full menu for those who love ramen or really any other Japanese bites - and all extremely affordable for great portions. Wait time for food was also very reasonable! My friend and I, in our indecisiveness, decided to split six appetizers that ultimately added to $20/person (minus tip) and were more than enough filling (plus even took some to-go!). Our appetizers choices, which I’ll rank in order of my favorite, were: Chicken Teriyaki (to DIE for), Fried Rice, Wantan, Pork Buns, Gyoza, and Ban Ban Ji (personally wasn’t a fan of the last compared to the rest but still not a bad choice!). I without a doubt will return for that chicken teriyaki. Highly recommended!"
"We found this restaurant by chance. It’s a small and cozy spot, with under 15 seats. I ordered the tonkotsu shoyu ramen, which was delicious!!! The portions here are great and prices are affordable. The server is very nice. Overall a wonderful experience to end the night!"
"I love this spot- been coming here for years! Definitely a hidden East Village gem- very small and cozy inside and the owner is a sweetheart. Prices are super affordable, ramen is no-frills but tasty, and they have a large selection of food and alcohol. Always love visiting Cho-ko!"
"Low-key ambiance, very welcoming and cozy (limited seating so a squeeze if busy) Phenomenal pricing on a wide array of menu options, including Sake. Been here once a month for ages now, and it’s been reliable every time. Fried rice is a standout for me, alongside the Ramen selection. Service is unmatched"
