"Yummy food. I heard of them when I was in Hong Kong many years ago: a Michelin star dumplings place in a food court... Then they opened up two locations in New York... Whenever I crave for the shrimp rice rolls, I visit them... Service is not super efficient, and the atmosphere feels like no frills but with New York prices :-) they tend to close early, so make sure you check out the hours before you go."
"Big fan of Tim Ho Wan dim sum. Favorite was the shumai and turnip cake. The rice cakes are also silky smooth. There's almost always a wait, so make sure you go during open."
"Getting tasty dim sum in NYC usually requires a trip out to the outer boroughs. Tim Ho Wan defies that logic. Even better, they have two locations in Manhattan! It's one of the best dim sum restaurants that I've had in NYC. This is not to say that everything was amazing, though. The cheung fun/rice roll seemed like it was made by a machine. It felt a little tough. And instead of tea leaves in the tea pot, they had a tea bag, which is far from traditional. It took way too long to steep."
"A good dim sum place for a quick meal. We arrived after peak lunch time around almost 2pm on a Friday and there were plenty of tables. Staffs were friendly and food came out quick. Our favorite is the baked bbq pork bun and lava custard sesame ball - both were full of fillings and flavorful. I was most impressed by how considerate staffs were: they noticed that my mom have trouble walking and immediately led her to handicap bathroom on same level instead of going to regular bathroom in the basement which requires steep stair. I did not even realized there is a handicap bathroom option and appreciate staffs going above and beyond. Price and menu-wise, a bit pricey and limited selection but overall a good spot to dine in."
"The baked barbecue pork buns are worth the hype. People also liked the steamed egg cake. It was light and fluffy. The shrimp rice roll was just okay and not something we’d get again. It was a clean and relaxed environment for a Sunday night bite. I’d definitely come back here or try other locations."
