"The wait time when we came wasn’t too busy and our party of 6 sat down once everyone arrived. The restaurant is very tight with plenty of tables/seats. The atmosphere as very loud and busy. The soup dumpling was alright. There was a lot of batter and the soup didn’t have much flavor. The crispy beef and chicken tasted the same. The duck was a bit bony and dry. The bun would tasted a lot better with it than the crepe/pancake. The duck sauce was a bit too salty and the soy sauce was sour from too much vinegar. Overall, it was an alright experience."
"LOVED IT!!! Joe’s Soup Dumplings are TO DIE FOR!!!! The savory pancakes were also amazing. It takes a while to be seated, but once you are, food comes really fast. Everthing was absolutely delicious and I will definitely be coming back!! *Only takes cash* MUST TRY!!"
"The food is delicious! One of the best and more authentic in the city. The soup dumplings are a must-try, sipping the broth then eating the meat is a journey in themselves. We also ordered the Sesame Beef and eggplant (kind of sweet), both very good. *Waiting Time*: We wait about 30 minutes, get the ticket inside. The wait is worth it for the food quality. *Service*: Good and efficient. Don't expect over-the-top friendliness, but you will be well taken care of. *Price*: About $30 per person. Remember, it's cash only! *Location & ambiance*: Close to the heart of Chinatown, adding to the authenticity of the dining experience. The ambiance is clean and straightforward. It lacks distinctive coziness or style but focuses on what's important: the dining experience. In summary, Joe's Shanghai offers an excellent dining experience with its top-notch food. The service is efficient, the ambiance clean, and the prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. The authentic Chinatown location and the overall value make the wait worthwhile. It's a reliable choice for a delicious meal."
"Blown away. Really, truly, this place was exceptional in every way. We got there as they were opening and we're amazed to see just how quickly the tables filled up shortly after. Quick service, generous portions, and unbelievable food. The braised pork belly with preserves vegetables was exactly what we needed on a chilly day around the holidays. The crab and pork soup dumplings were rich in a way that I can't describe.. savory, salty, rich, just amazing. We shared the Shanghai rice and jellyfish as well. Can't recommend them highly enough."
"We got spicy fish which was really good… really spicy, definitely cleared out my sinuses, but I loved it! We also got scallion pancake, which was good but more oily than I’m used to. My partner got the soup dumplings which they said was alright, not the most amazing they’ve ever had. The green beans were my favorite thing that I’ve had. We also tried the thick seafood noodles which didn’t taste like anything at all, so bland. For desert we got the fried buns with condensed milk, honestly could’ve skipped it. If you’re coming with a party, be prepared to wait outside for an hour. There was only 2 of us so we didn’t have to wait at all, luckily. It was loud and cramped in there. Seems to be a very popular touristy place, really focused on group dining and communal plates so if that’s family style eating isn’t for you, this is not the place for you. Because it was only 2 of us, we ended up spending a lot of money on several dishes that were meant to be shared by multiple people. We spent $125 in total and tip was included Would I come back? No but I liked the experience that I had there."
