"If this place is still run by WELLINGTON ADVISORS, it deserves NEGATIVE STARS!!! They took over shortly before I moved out and have been holding my deposit for THREE MONTHS!!! Under the previous management, Barbara was at the office and she was wonderful. Willie, the maintenance man, was also fantastic. I wish they never would’ve sold the place. Under them, I would probably give them 4.5 stars. The place was great — quiet, roomy, WASHER AND DRYER — not too far from things. Not overly-priced. I stayed about a year and a half — July 2018-January 2020– before I had to move for work. The following is my review of Wellington — if you value your money, I’d look elsewhere. “You deserve better” than to deal with them: Can I give negative stars?!?!? Run. Run FAR AWAY FROM HERE!! I am not one to leave reviews, but this is THE WORST place I’ve ever had to deal with — they bought out my place in Fayetteville, NC, a few months before I moved out. They reduced the already-shortened office hours, and now that I’ve been MOVED-OUT FOR 3 MONTHS now, I STILL HAVE YET TO RECEIVE MY DEPOSIT!!! I’ve been calling and e-mailing and calling and e-mailing and calling and e-mailing. I moved out at the end of January, having given them notice since mid-December I’d be moving-out soon. I filled-out all the paperwork, paid all my fees, left my forwarding address..... and nothing. — They sure wasted no time cashing my check, though!!! — I understand it takes a little time, BUT THREE MONTHS AND STILL NOTHING?!?!?! When I DO actually get ANYONE on the phone — because aside from the ONE time, it’s ALWAYS someone different — EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM SAY, “.....I’m just filling-in today.....” “....the manager is on the other property.....” No one calls me back after they say they will. I try to call, it goes straight to the answering machine. I send an e-mail, no response. I resorted to sending a message through the actual site for the apartment building, and EVENTUALLY someone responded. On MARCH 20 —almost TWO WHOLE MONTHS AFTER I MOVED OUT— I FINALLY received an e-mail staying they were sending me my refund and some paperwork. I responded, asking for a clear breakdown of my refund and STILL have not received ANY response. NOR MAIL! MARCH 20!!! It’s MAY 1!!! At some point after this, I spoke with someone who informed me that apparently..... they sent my check to the wrong address —214 house number instead of 217 — I checked the e-mail they last sent, and it has my CORRECT address on that paperwork. How convenient. She said she would let the manager know, and that she — the manager— was pretty quick with things. And still I wait. I talked to someone ELSE last week on Monday, April 20, who said the check was “being mailed today.” It’s now Friday, May 1, almost 2 weeks later. IT DOES NOT TAKE NEARLY TWO WEEKS TO MAIL A CHECK FROM NORTH CAROLINA TO ALABAMA, EVEN AMIDST THIS CORONA VIRUS PANDEMIC! I’ve tried calling throughout this week — the office is only open MWF, banking hours, and I’m in CST— but all I ever get is the answering machine. They’ve never responded to messages I’ve left on here before, so I will not waste my breath nor time now. Do yourself a favor, and AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!! I’m a SUPER-easy-going and really understanding person. Until you start messing with MY MONEY!! Their website says it best — “YOU DESERVE BETTER” — how’s that saying go?? “When someone tells you how they are, believe them??” Had I a CHOICE, I would have chosen to NOT deal with these fools."
"So the townhouses are decent on the inside could definitely use some upgrading but then again so could most of the apartments in Fayetteville tbh... but my main issue while living here was the crime around the area (two drive by shootings within two months of each other across the street) and the water bugs. The water bugs/roaches were getting so bad I saw at least 16 in one week. I spoke with other neighbors and they also have them coming in their house as well. Everything else was fine minus the roach issue. The new company that took over handled any of my concerns within a reasonable amount of time except when my fridge wasn't cooling properly. I was without a working fridge for about 10 days or so and I had to throw away food which was a waste. I ended up buying a mini fridge after waiting so long but they replaced the fridge the next day. My A/C unit messed up and it took them a couple days to fix it but it was taken care of."
"Peak reality is the third management company that has taken over within the last three yrs and the WORST!!!! the representative that they have here is very combative and didn't even take the time to know the correct names of the people who rent here when the names are clearly on the lease. the rent is going up by $600 on top of what we're already paying for apartments that only look nice online"
"These apartments are not worth $1000 and are not fit to live in. All of these apartment need to be remodeled. They paint over stuff and do patch work to hide the ongoing and constant problem in these apartments. The trash cans are always overflowing with trash bags surrounding them and blocking the doorway. The old owners were money hungry and didn’t care about making repairs nor fixing anything and the new owners are the same way..Both Wellington Advisors and Peak Realty are slumlords in fancy attire. The only thing that has changed about these apartments is the name to Cape Fear Townhouses and the prices to $1050-$1250. These townhomes are overpriced dumps and need to be shutdown by the Fayetteville inspector until every unit is correctly remodeled."
"Unfortunately my experience with this place was horrendous to say the least. All starts at the helm with Barbara D. Butler so called “property manager”. I’m 14 yrs active duty with secret clearance. Yes I’m Latino with a common Latino name. This lady took my $45 for a half fast background check. I have almost 800 points credit score. Apparently my background check came back with apparent charges in several states. The names that appeared were not my actual name and this lady is sooo inept that she couldn’t use common sense and differentiate the anomaly. If I was a criminal, I couldn’t be in the military. I provided proof of service and also went to the Sheriffs department to clear my name and still this lady denied me the opportunity to an apartment. After I went to the Sheriffs department and all this lady didn’t even bother to follow up with me at all. This is not equal opportunity. Is a blessing in disguise cause I found a much better place to live. Lesson learned is cheap is not always the way to go. To Barbara D. Butler I want to thank you for wasting my time, hope you use the $45 in a competent background check for future inquiries."
