"I move in august 15th 2023. I wish I never signed a lease here. If you are smart, avoid living here. Just take my word."
"I am a current resident, so I can attest that this review is true in all statements and accurate to my experience at Walden station student living. I would say that even though the rent went up this year, I really don’t have any issues with the apartment unit itself. I think it has fine amenities and decent utility policies. The maintenance staff specifically Jamar is awesome and super helpful. Generally though, it has lost a couple of stars for me because of the office and technology services surrounding payments and information. The office almost always closes a half hour before the posted hours, and is closed for their very long lunch breaks (definitely over an hour) which is almost always an inconvenience. Staff turnover seems to be high for the desk jobs (I’ve seen 4-5 different front desk workers and two on-site property managers in 2 years), and the current on site property manager acts like her job is an inconvenience and is usually visible annoyed with renters and with me personally. Cameras surrounding office are far and few between and some are also broken. Crimes of vandalism to my roommates car have occurred in the parking lot with no video evidence because the camera they said for him to park under after the first crime occurred was broken and didn’t record the second more serious vandalism. These crimes were reported and security in the parking lot has improved since then with a security officer usually on site at night, but it still happened. Finally, Brown investment properties (the company which owns Walden Station) has a loose understanding of the day-to-day at the complex. They have a finicky payment portal that with its glitches sometimes won’t properly charge me on time for rent even though I have automatic payment set up. This has led to late payments which I had no idea (and no reason to assume) weren’t paid, so I have to manually check to make sure everything is clearing properly every month. An update to their payment technology and general tech like website and WIFI would really help make the community better."
"This year, my son decided that he wanted to live off-campus for the first time. I was hesitant but when I saw the Walden station website, I felt a little bit more comfortable. The website helps to relieve some of those worries. But those worries immediately came back when my son moved in. the parking lot is incredibly dark and we've seen weird characters moving throughout. It's also just not clean at all. And after talking with management, they seem to either not believe us or not care. There are simply better places we can go that are actually cheaper. I encourage you guys to make the same decision we are by not renewing."
"I used to live at University Crossings at Charlotte.... It was an absolute nightmare. My room constantly flooded, and they would always charge me for the electric bills with the fans in my room to dry out the room instead of fixing the issue. My roommates were a disaster, and not even students. After a year, I had to move. I decided to come to Walden Station, mainly because it is right behind the Engineering Campus. However, moving to Walden turned out to be the best apartment complex ever. The staff is extremely friendly, rooms are much nicer, roommates are angels. I couldn't be happier with this place. The staff makes you feel like you're at home and apart of a family. They also give out free food and merchandise on occasions. Thank you Walden!!"
"Walden Station was totally the right choice for me! I LOVE my apartment. It's spacious and clean and has all the amenities that I need. I love to cook so the openness of the kitchen and surface area is really a huge plus. Tad and Meaghan have been amazing to work with from signing my lease to the ease of move in and are always engaged and caring every time I walk into the office. The community is great, really a good place for upperclassmen and graduate students as it's relatively quiet. The blue lights add an extra element of safety and remind you as well to be diligent. One of the best things is that you have an option to purchase a parking space that is your dedicated place. I love this feature as at my last apartment, parking was a huge challenge as it is for many student living housing facilities. You can also have a pet here and many people do which is pretty awesome because it's a great way to meet people! The property is maintained well and I would highly recommend this community to any student looking for an optimal housing experience."
