"I’ve enjoyed living here. I like the size and accessibility of my unit, however it doesn’t get much natural light and can feel like a cave. It would help to lighten the flooring and wall paint, and the cabinetry. The staff, including maintenance, is the shining star of the building. They are helpful, friendly, and care about their residents. Maintenance is quick and they always do a good job. The renovation of the dog park was a plus; it’s nice, clean, and safe. On the downside, the pool (although beautiful) is small in comparison to the number of people that use it. It’s difficult to get a spot on the weekends. Also, while the location is super convenient it’s also extremely congested. I’ve found that this area attracts a certain kind of person that I don’t particularly vibe with. I recognize that I’m much happier in the eclectic, diverse, and generally friendlier neighborhoods of the Charlotte area."
"I am finishing up my 15-month lease here and I have had a relatively positive experience. One of the major pros of living here is how quiet this place is. I do not hear my neighbors stomping around above me, I do not hear through my walls either. Sound is only an issue on the weekends here for me as I live on the rail trail side of the building, so I do hear the train often and I do hear the bars (Tyber Creek) into the early hours of the morning. Another pro is the 24/7 concierge staff. There is always someone sitting at the front desk and even better your packages are handled and put away securely instead of being thrown into a big room with public access. The only negative thing I have to say is regarding lock outs. Even though the apartment does have an extra copy of your key, they will not provide help if you lock yourself out. In my case (totally my fault) I was locked out from my dog for 8+ hours before I could get a locksmith to come drill my lock out and charge me $250. Yes, my fault in the end, but a lot of places have moved on from standard locks and use door code locks instead. The apartment itself has a nice luxury feel. The amenities like the gym and the pool are pretty standard I guess. The pool is on the roof, it is kind of small though so it gets a little crowded in the warmer months. The gym is basically like a slightly better hotel gym. There is a new pet park they just built and it is nice for the dogs. The staff always seem cordial, and they are always throwing cool social events for the community. Parking is gated so that has never been an issue for me really. All in all, it is a decent place to live. The price is really reflective of the location in my opinion as you are so close to everything you would want to be apart of. I am not resigning another lease but I would recommend it if you can afford it."
"We lived here almost 7 years. I have never been SO sad to leave a "home". The Ashton is by far our favorite place we've ever lived. It is essentially a hotel with the most spacious apartments in Southend right in the middle of the action. Pure luxury. The concierge is the BEST and SO attentive. The leasing team couldn't be any nicer or more accomodating. The maintenance and cleaning staff are prompt and fantastic. The general manager, Angie, runs the entire building absolutely seamlessly with a smile, nipping any issues that arise, swiftly and professionally. We were absolutely SPOILED here and we miss it SO much. We will still be stopping by periodically to check on this fabulous group whom we LOVE. If they turn "condo", I'm coming back!"
"HOME. I couldn’t love it more. The location. The staff. How quickly they respond to service requests. The rooftop pool! I moved in on Valentine’s Day 2018 — so it has been 5 years! I lived in Manhattan for 11 years and lived in 9 different apartments. That says something… I drank a lot here. I got sober here. I brought my puppy home (my daughter - Charlotte). I brought my first child home (my son - Ashton)... I “grew up” here and did a lot of living and learning in a one bedroom… And did I mention the staff? That will be the hardest part about leasing and outgrowing a 1-bedroom. Moving away. I have never felt more at home (and safe) in an apartment building. Grateful for that."
