"TLDR: I lived at Timber Creek Apartments for 14 months, from Aug 2022 to Oct 2023, and I highly recommend not moving to this apartment complex. Cons: -The complex is infested with American cockroaches. The office staff downplayed the problem, and pest control flat out told me that I'm always going to have some of them inside my apartment. I once woke up with a dead one about three inches from my bed. I vacuumed, did the dishes, and put out the trash daily. In the summer, it was impossible to walk in at night without seeing at least one roach in the parking lot or the stairs or the sidewalk. -My unit also came with a variety of other bugs throughout the seasons, including drain flies, spiders, some sort of millipede, and another little bug that pest control described as "some type of beetle." -One of my neighbors would throw full bags of trash and individual pieces of trash under the stairwell. I reported this multiple times to the office staff. The trash would still sit in the stairwell for weeks, even after I reported it. -The laundry room was gross. At one point, there was literal feces on the ground. -The buildings are from the 80s and still have popcorn ceiling that peels. I saw a renovated unit and it wasn't worth the price increase. -I had one of the smallest kitchens ever. There was hardly any counter space and only one small drawer. The counters and cabinets were visibly uneven. -Multiple units smelled of cigarette smoke. -Valet trash pick up was sporadic at best. -There was a lease violation where a maintenance man entered my unit when I was out of town and did not follow the terms of the lease and leave notice that they were in the unit. They also left a light on. The head of maintenance tried to gaslight me about the issue and blame it on me. The next time I submitted a maintenance request and followed their instructions exactly, they didn't call me before entering. -The manager Kimberly would sit in her office and never come out for residents. I once caught the head of maintenance hiding with her in the office. Even when a resident was in the office complaining, she never came out. -In Jan 2023, all of the staff in the office left or were out, so the office was closed. They wouldn't answer calls or emails, and said to make an appointment with them, only there was no way to make an appointment. Even once the office reopened, they never answered the phones nor returned voicemails until maybe Nov 2023. -The pool was closed for all of summer 2023. -Every so often, you'd hear gunshots somewhat close by. I also heard domestic disturbances from two of my neighbors, but the walls were pretty thick for the most part. -My unit faced the woods, and there was no natural lighting due to the lack of windows. -While I was able to get the office staff to easily make copies of my move out documents, the office staff would not schedule a final walkthrough with me. -I did receive my full security deposit returned to me, but I had to reach out multiple times to the office and various corporate employes in order to get my check. I was told they sent the check to the wrong address. They took over 45 days to return my security deposit to me, and NC law states landlords have 30 days to return deposits. -I don't know if the new owner is going to change anything. In Jan 2024, I had to stop by to pick up a package for a friend. The road by the dumpster was covered in trash bags. Pros: -The size of the 1 bedroom unit I had was pretty good, minus the tiny kitchen and small bathroom. Having an actual dining room area was a nice benefit. -I never had any issues with parking in front of my building, except the one night I got back and a few cop cars were blocking the road. That wasn't the only time there were multiple cop cars in front of the buildings. -The path behind the building to my unit was always well lit and I never had an issue with the light going out. As a woman living alone, I never felt unsafe walking back there at night. -I never had any issues with my AC or heat, though they were noisy."
"So far, under new management, the Marley seems to be taking of nicely. The grounds are getting cleaner, the concerns are being addressed, and the staff is more knowledgeable and professional. It's looking optimistic for an open pool this summer. Don't let us down, Marley!!"
"I don't know what is going on but I am truly not happy. The office staff is extremely friendly but my living conditions are not good. I'm waiting to see if you live up to what you say is going to change. I feel like I have been stuck in the rear with the section 8 rejects who have no pride in their living conditions"
"I moved here based on a short term experience almost two years ago apartment sitting for a friend. I should've listened when she told me not to move here. The front office was just so kind I figured it was just her opinion and I should take the opportunity to see for myself. Im on month 3 and heavily considering buying out of our lease ASAP. Let's start the with CHILDREN (barely walking to 10 yo) THAT PLAY IN THE STREET UNSUPERVISED, buildings away from their parents, directly at the entrance. They purposely run out and throw toys as you drive by. Any given afternoon at around 4pm you can expect shrieking and noise while they play dangerously around your car, running around with PITBULLS off leash, etc. No issue with children being children but it's a literal daycare outside. Being as I WFH I constantly have to adjust and accommodate for the noise as it disrupts my calls. (I have been to the office about this issue and was told they have called the police several times and were told there's nothing they can do.) Dumpster is constantly overfilled, trash blowing in the street nearly every weekend. If you do choose to take your own trash you get greeted by RATS. (Which have been confirmed as a PROBLEM by the same pest control personnel mentioned later in this review) You get to see bags of trash pile up outside your neighbors door, despite there being a "one bag a day rule". No one seems to walk down to the dumpster because we pay for a service. Bugs. EVERYWHERE. pay 3$ a month for "pest control" and they came ONE TIME the 1st month I moved here and they only came because I TALKED TO THE COMPANY MYSELF while we waited outside the main office for it to open. A monthly request was allegedly made but i haven't seen them as I WFH. I ended up spending 30$ on my own pest control that I do every week. Mold and dirty in fridge that I had to clean. Dish washer was full of trash and food that I made a request to be fixed 9/29... it's 11/5. You definitely have to pay to play and it's not the most expensive complex by any means but some things are just common decency and respect. Once they get you in, it's on you to get results. On the brightside, Im used to "sharing walls" in an apartment setting and I will say there isn't much issue with noise INSIDE. (atleast in my building) a few people play music but it's always at appropriate hours! If you plan on moving here I suggest requesting an apartment on the back side of the building so you're not effected by the festivities in the parking lot."
"Waste of time, i swear. Been here for 2 months. Moved in my dryer garbage disposal and dishwasher were all not working. Took a month for them to come by and fix everything. The propety is extremely old and moldy everywhere. Their are cheap apartments near southend that doesnt look & act like a project neighborhood. Their excuse is theyre “low-staffed”. Marquis he is the maintenance guy, should be fired he rides around on his golf cart playing loud music. Extremely unprofessional neighborhood. Cant wait to break my lease."
