"Loud and smelly. I acknowledge this brand might not be aimed at my age demographic and this could be a perfect example of their brand standards... Wow I hope not. Assuming this is the case though I gave it an extra star. My real opinion is two stars. The staff was friendly and the place is overall clean. But the downsides are the rooms! Opened the room to be blasted in the nose by air freshener. Room was small and furnished with trendy cheap dorm room furniture. Uncarpeted rooms so every step echos; both yours and your neighbors. The cheap furniture echos when you set down keys or a can. Water dripping in the shower, echos. Air freshener was so overwhelming, I kept coughing and guess what, coughing echos too. Took a nice hot shower to clear out the sinuses only to discover that the body wash was the same perfumed nasty fake lemon scent. Back to Home2 suites and Hampton Inn for me."
"Broken microwave. Pool not open. Three people booked room and only one washcloth. Scheduled stay here for pool. When asking owner for compensation or reduced rate due to pool not operable was denied any compensation other than Hilton points ( very little). A sign in the lobby says we’ll make it right or compensate a nights stay. They did not do that. We booked solely for our son to enjoy the pool. We are checking out tomorrow and staying somewhere else with professional staff who understand hospitality (as this owner does not)"
"We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights and we did not have room service the entire time. When I checked out I was told that the rooms are only cleaned and serviced one time per week. That's just gross, how do you go six days with the same towels and wash clothes? The desk clerk said that the Tru Hotel only offers limited services.. on the mirror there is a sticker that says that the room will be cleaned, beds made and towels refreshed every other day. Change your sticker if you don't intend to provide the service and change your pricing to reflect your limited services."
"DO NOT EVER STAY AT THIS LOCATION. I stayed here for 1 week, and by day 2 I was charged 7 times for $1096.46 and additionally we were charged a $150 cancellation fee (even though we checked in a day prior) due to “a system issue” the general manager Elva was no help at all, threatened to kick us out while 9 1/2 hrs from home. There was no real cause for us to be kicked out, I believe Elva is homophobic as hell and decided to kick me and my wife out when she found out we were gay women. Elva will talk to you like your money, time and problems do not matter and I truly believe to her they don’t matter, she’s a worthless manager and a sorry excuse for an employee at all. I was told multiple times by employees that “they just work here” they refused to give me a managers number or corporate number (I found that on my own) the most awful and disgusting women work here and shouldn’t they don’t care about their jobs or about their customers. If you want treated like dirt it’s a perfect place for you. They were being completely unreasonable, I was told multiple times that no one could do anything and that it wasn’t their fault. They refused to do anything about this matter. I booked the room and was told by John that they do accept cash. When I arrived I was told they do not accept cash or any kind, I gave them my debit card info to solve this. After this is when I was charge 7 different times and took multiple days and multiples times of them threatening to force us to check out and call the police. We travel to Gastonia once every three months or so. And this is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. Do not come here unless you want a bunch of problems during your stay. Furthermore, we were not the only people this occurred to, there was another couple here for a travel baseball game and they did the same thing to them. From my understanding from the employees this happens frequently and they are at the mercy of support (who you aren’t allowed to speak with fyi) horrible experience, horrible service, rooms are VERY small. Stay at the Hilton Garden Inn instead, it’s much nicer and the service is great."
"the hotel is new, bright, modern and clean. But rooms are noisy, lots of noise from the traffic as well as rooms above. room darkening blinds are not installed properly leaving gaps at the bottom ledge. Water pressure is very low. Hot water runs out quick and breakfast staff can not keep up with volume, coffee runs out, oatmeal was cold and pancake machine couldn't keep up."
