"My friend and I went to Whitmans at 6pm on a Tuesday. Reservations were easy to make online. I would recommend making one because it was pretty popping! The ambiance is like a typical American joint, casual with occasional rowdiness from larger parties. We got the smash burger ($14), highline hanger burger ($16), bacon, egg and cheese burger ($15), and onion rings ($7). My favorite thing was the hanger burger. The burger was cooked perfectly medium-rare, which has been a rare thing to find these days. The meat was juicy and flavored well and the arugula complemented it nicely. Because the BEC and the smash burger have thinner patties, they end up tasting less juicy but still delicious! I was pleasantly surprised to say that the burgers are worth the price! However, I would pass on the onion rings the next time I return. The breading was not crispy and reminded me of soft shrimp tempura batter. There was also no flavor. Service was average. Our server did a check back and food came out quickly, despite the restaurant being busy. I would recommend checking out Whitmans if you are looking for a tasty burger and do not want to break the bank!"

"Whitmans is a solid choice for burger enthusiasts. I dined there two weeks ago and tried their blue cheese burger, accompanied by a soda, and it was quite enjoyable. The only minor drawback was that the burger was a bit challenging to keep together due to the sauce and the size of the patty, but the taste compensated for it. The atmosphere was lively, and the service was decent. I'd recommend Whitmans if you find yourself in the area, though there are certainly other great options to consider as well. It's a good spot overall."

"A real hidden gem in NYC! One of the best fried pickle dishes that I've had in the city. Highly recommend getting those for a starter. They are light and almost remind you of a light batter of a fried calamari, not a cheap overly fried dough. The burgers came out fast, and were just as excellent. I think the juicy lucy was the best on the menu.. The sesame seed bun was a game changer... All of this for a relatively inexpensive burger in NYC, in Hudson Yards?!?! Sign me up. I'll be coming back to keep trying every burger they got."

"Really dull, flavorless, and bland meat - not true to temperature, and way too expensive for portions given. I got the juicy Lucy which was incredibly underwhelming. The meat was severely under seasoned and the pimento cheese in it was sweet - the flavors of the burger just didn’t work together. My friend got the wagyu burger, which we ordered medium rare. It came out well done as shown in the picture below. The total for two burgers, a soda, and one order of fries was 60$ with tip - which, for a good burger, I don’t mind spending at all, however for this lackluster, tiny, un-flavorful burger, just seems like a waste."

"Great unexpected find near Hudson yards. Wanted a simple meal that wasn’t going to kill my wallet. Was able to find a decent burger with some amazing fried pickles. Just disappointed fries weren’t included in the cost of the burger. It was easy to get a table and service was very friendly. Nice selection of cold beers too. Perfect for a random night out with buddies."
