Reviews of Triangle Floors LLC
"This review is long overdue. Triangle Floors replaced carpet with hardwood in two rooms and at the same time refinished the existing hardwood in two other rooms. I’ll start with the positive: • The price was reasonable • Ricardo was pleasant to work with • They did a great job on the patterns and inlays I wanted and those look very nice! The negatives include (see the supporting pictures): • Changed the crews every day so there was no continuity • Although there was way more than needed wood, they didn’t cut off the knotty ends and they used boards with substantial knots and imperfections. The knots they left catch and snag socks and hose. • Regarding the above knots / imperfections, noticing they weren’t selective, I took a whole day off work to sort through the wood. The crew the next day was a different one and they took away in their truck ALL my sorted wood and went back to using just anything. • They did not use the brand of finish mentioned in the estimate and the finish they used now appears cloudy in many places. It also did not appear to be very UV stable. • They did not level the underflooring so that in one room the edges of the boards, which are short, are coming up. This makes a very rough edge to walk on. • The refinisher introduced an obvious wave on the floors; made a very rough transition from one room to the next (why??) and didn’t leave the floor smooth at the edges. It is very hard to capture this in pictures but I have tried. • Several nail holes were not filled in. • They made a big dent in the sunburst in the foyer. • They were careless during the removal of the carpet as well as the shoe moldings so that the baseboards were quite scratched, dented, chipped, etc. They did poke some holes in the walls but were great about repairing those and repainting the wall. If I had to do this project over, I would not chose Triangle Floors. They do have (and did have when I chose them) many positive reviews. I’m not sure what happened on my project. Unfortunately, the wave in the wood, and now the finish not lasting even 4 years (prior finish lasted more than 20 years) is something I have to see all the time. I can’t unsee it, unfortunately."
"Triangle Floors installed engineered hardwood with a cork underlay. The process from choosing the flooring to installation was very smooth. Ricardo listened to my needs and brought me a variety of samples to look at. I was able to settle very quickly on a flooring that I liked. Hector and Hulmer, my installers, were professional, polite, detail oriented and worked cleanly. They moved the furniture for me and put it back into place according to my wishes. It was a pleasure to work with them. I would use them again."
"Ricardo and his team were wonderful. They were easy to work with and very skillful at installing my floors. They worked efficiently and always guided me in the right direction. I wanted to do some other work - drywall, installing a pocket door - and they were able to help with that too. Very reasonable cost-wise. Highly recommend!"
"Very disappointed with the flooring done in my finished basement. I was told multiple times it was not done yet and new material would be ordered to fix it yet here we are in September and the job was supposed to be finished at the end of February. The transition from my kitchen to the stairs is uneven, pieces on the stairs are already coming up. When I reached out to Ricardo with no response he tried to blame it on me and say his phone was not working. I will be getting additional rooms done in the future and I will not be using this company."
"UPDATE: after my review Ricardo reached out to me and had someone come out to repair the additional flooring. My one outstanding item is a creaking step that hopefully they can come back out and repair. Ricardo has been great throughout the process, as mentioned it seems to be overall a wood issue that I am experiencing. My experience with Triangle Flooring was okay. I wish they took the time to go over everything more in depth as I would've done things differently. I replaced my entire downstairs with pre-finished hardwood in 2020 along with replacing my stairs with hardwood instead of carpet. The floors downstairs took a week and the staircase took two weeks - which may have been my own fault since it was known I was not living in the house as of yet but the contracted out contractor told me they were told it was not a rush even though I was promised it to be completed in a week and a half but it took over three weeks. Fast forward 6 months and I had over 12 boards that were cracking and chipping. Ricardo sent someone out to fix them at no cost which was great but still to this day I keep finding boards that are continuing to crack. Being a new homeowner I did not do my diligence to understand that even acclimated pre-finished boards can continue to crack and chip over time as opposed to finishing them in house. For spending over 14k on floors I wish I went with high end laminate at this point - Not to mention the board that was not nailed that has now settled and I have a gap in my floor right in my kitchen I have to look at daily."
