"If you don't want to read the entire review, I'll sum it up. Book a table today! From the moment you park your car, you notice something different. It feels like you are going to a lodge in the woods. It feels cozy and inviting. When you enter you notice the beautiful bar on the right with plenty of tables for dining there if you desire. On the left is a smaller bar but also very inviting. As you walk to your table, you see many small dining rooms behind glass with sheer curtains and some with walls of wine. All are very inviting for that next small dinner party. The menu is incredibly enticing. Before we ordered however, our server brought over two small dinner biscuits with whipped butter, perfectly baked and the butter was sweet and a great kickoff to the meal. We started with a dozen beautiful oysters which tasted fresh from the sea. The tuna tartare was quite different from any we have had and it was wonderful. You will definitely fight over the pickled egg! I never order pork but I did here, the description was too good to pass up. It lived up to the description and then some. It was a very special meal. My husband ordered the duck which was even better than the pork. We simply loved everything about this restaurant including the attentive but not invasive waitstaff. This is a delightful addition to the Wilmington dining scene and we can't wait to return and bring friends."
"Been seeing this place for a while and wanting to try it. Their online reservation system worked well and we had a nice experience. This place is definitely in the category of what I would consider "fancy". I tried the clam chowder and the chicken and dumplings. Both of these were well prepared but I didn't really enjoy the chowder. Mainly it just didn't fit my taste. The chicken and dumplings were good, especially when combined with the little biscuits they serve. My girlfriend had the beet salad and the pork tenderloin and she very much enjoyed both. Parking here is a tad limited. The interior of the restaurant is very high end. Service was excellent and the staff was very attentive. Overall a good experience."
"Wonderful birthday celebration at this beautiful restaurant in midtown Wilmington. For appetizers we had the Potato Pave and the Covey Caesar Salad. For entrees we had The Ribeye, NC Shrimp & Grits, and the Duck. We tasted everything and my favorite was the ribeye dish but everything was wonderful. The wine selection at this restaurant is amazing. I would go back just to sit at either of the great bars and enjoy some of the great wines. Atmosphere, service, and overall experience was impressive at this restaurant. When you pull through the entrance to allow your guests to exit the vehicle you can’t help but say, Wow!, this place is beautiful."
"We really enjoyed our meal here. The building and decor are beautiful but it did get loud inside as it got more crowded. The food was outstanding. We loved everything we ordered. I do think the service could be a tad better. When we had questions about the menu our server simply read the menu description back to use. She forgot which appetizers we ordered and when we were finished she suggested for next time one we’d just finished. We took home most of the ribeye entree and were disappointed that the sauce that came with the ribeye, of which there was some left, was not included with our to-go box."
"I ate here for the first time last night and I had some pretty high expectations. Covey exceeded ALL of them. The hosts and servers were all so patient and kind, while also providing quick service. We could immediately tell that the drinks and food were high quality and prepared with very high standards in mind. The restaurant was in amazing control and already has a very impressive flow. I’m not a professional but those chefs Austen and Parker are definitely going places and Covey is the new greatest hidden gem that Wilmington has to offer. Great service, great food, great atmosphere. Highly recommend. P.S. They also have several delicious vegan and gluten free options, so there is something for everyone!"
