"We HIGHLY enjoyed our meals. The omnivore in our group ordered The Samburger, while the vegan ordered the Vegan Smashburger. Both burgers were delicious (and a mess, as the name promises). Ingredients were fresh, food was hot, tater tots were wonderfully crispy. Atmosphere is very laid-back. You order at the counter and fill up your cup from the drink fountain, while they make the meal and bring it out to you."

"If you like “smash burger” style burgers you will love this place. They are very good and the tots are also excellent. I have eaten here several times and at the old location. There are inside tables and bar seats. They serve alcohol at this new location. There are outside tables near the front door and a large outside area with picnic tables. All of the burgers are good. The chicken sandys are very good. I also like the McWgat? that has a burger patty and chicken strips on it. Anything you order will be really good. They usually have a special burger. The one I got recently is the best burger I have ever had at the Mess Hall. It was on a pretzel bun with sauerkraut, spicy mustard, a burger patty, pastrami and thousand island. The new building has a LOT more seating and is way more customer friendly than the old spot but I will say I liked the character of the old spot better. Its all good though. I did unfortunately smell what I think may be the dreaded mildew leak smell when I entered the building this past weekend 10/14/23. Maybe I am wrong. Smells can be different to different people but it happens a LOT in Wilmington with all the storms we get. Anyway I also tried a Milkshake this weekend. We got the Nutella Wafer Milkshake and it was really good. This is a must try if you are visiting or live in the area."

"10/10, a must. The menu is simple but they do everything incredibly well. Lots of seating inside and out. The Samburger is insane, not huge but it’s mighty. The Scott’s tots with fried chicken is incredible and definitely big enough to share. The Nutella wafer shake is just wow, and I don’t normally do shakes. Don’t skip this one… you won’t be disappointed. Will be going back often."
