Handyman Solutions Maspeth

"Read the reviews and see if they don't seem questionably vague. Minimal to no details of the actual job, no workers names, no photos, no dates nor prices, some reviewers have no Maspeth reviews, others have no NY reviews. Let's see if the reviews change after mine. There were 26 when I wrote mine, 10 reviews have since been deleted/removed. 9/22 I called Handyman Solutions for an estimate to install a door, re-cement the house foundation and wall in the laundry room. 9/24 Simon came over, took pictures and measurements, and I told him the way my foundation was done in 2007, in the front, was the way I wanted it done on the other two sides (semi attached house). Simon said he'd call with an estimate, I texted my email for a written estimate.  I asked him to communicate in person or through texts because I had difficulty understanding him as his cell cut out often. 9/25 Simon called with an estimate and I asked one be sent to my email. I sent $400 via Zelle bc the door had to be ordered. Anthony called confirming $2000 for cement work, and $400 (800-400) to install a door on 9/29. I asked for a written estimate. I needed door(s) installed in an arched entryway which needed to be squared out. Simon previously took pictures of the two closets in the room which had 16" double panel doors. I wanted the new doors and trim to match exactly. Over the weekend he called saying the doors would take 5-6 weeks bc they were a custom order. Problem 1) They were stock masonite doors I had purchased myself. He tells me the entryway is too short and narrow by .5-1.5". Problem 2) He was already cutting into the drywall to square out the door and I'd need to repaint both sides. Why wouldn't he cut the .5" off one side and 1.5" the other. I told him I didn't want the door installed. Simon dropped off Jesus on 9/29, and he started to remove the deteriorated cement. Poor guy was working in the rain. Simon sent concrete paint samples for me to choose. When I looked outside, Jesus was applying fresh cement to the foundation. I called Simon and he told Jesus to stop working. Problem 3) They weren't applying a bonding agent to the old foundation like we had discussed and I thought they were only doing demo in the rain. Simon said they'll finish the side they started and do it correctly on the other side. I wasn't happy. It was raining again on 9/30, Jesus removed the loose concrete and they used one bottle of bonding adhesive. Both were just patching holes and I stopped them again. I told Simon it was supposed to match the front of the house. He told me he couldn't do the whole job for $2000. I would have to pay $2500. I said it wasn't my fault. I was clear in what I wanted. Simon said it would cost more but he was doing me a favor for $2500. I had a mess, they had some of my money, and I agreed to $2300. Then he said for $2300 he wouldn't paint the foundation and he'd only patch the brick wall in my laundry. The completed project looked decent. I tipped Jesus, he was a good worker. But I wasn't expecting them to leave me 6 contractor bags of concrete. I had to divide the contents of each bag into 5 bags because sanitation wouldn't take them. 11/19 I walked passed the side of the house where the foundation work had been done. I noticed several cracks. I tapped to see if they were superficial, but the sound was hollow and there were loose sections of wall. I texted Simon and he said I should have painted the foundation and that's why it failed 7 weeks later. 11/21 called Handyman Solutions and was told there was no one there to take my call. 11/22 manager would call by lunch time. No call. 11/23 Lisa said manager Eddie would call today by 3PM. No call. I've filed a BBB complaint. HSM did not respond the BBB correspondence."
