"Still a Chinatown gem after all these years. Came here today with my girlfriend and we ordered 3 dishes: Crabs Cantonese, Razor Clams, and Braised Fish Fillet with Egg Tofu. All dishes were delicious and portions were pretty good. Service is super friendly and attentive, some of the best staff in Chinatown. As a rule of thumb with all restaurants, you need to know what to order here since their menu is humongous, but generally you can't go wrong with their seafood or stir fried noodle options. Will be back soon!"
"A Lukewarm Experience at "Wo Hop Next Door" During a recent visit to Chinatown, I decided to give "Wo Hop Next Door," located on Mott Street, a try. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out to be the exceptional dining experience I had hoped for. We ordered a bowl of their handmade noodles, and while the noodles themselves were freshly made, they lacked the robust flavor I was anticipating. It was the chili oil we added that finally gave them some character. The broth, on the other hand, was decent, but it needed that extra kick from the chili oil to truly shine. On the bright side, the service was friendly and impressively fast, making it a suitable spot for a quick meal. However, the restaurant's atmosphere left much to be desired. Uncomfortably chilly, especially in the entrance area, it lacked the cozy ambiance you'd expect from a dining establishment. As for the pricing, it was indeed budget-friendly, but, regrettably, "Wo Hop Next Door" failed to stand out as a culinary highlight. Another downside was the cash-only payment policy, which can be inconvenient in today's digital age."
"The menu displays traditional Cantonese food, but the chef did not cook traditional Cantonese food. Today is Moon Festival. I was very disappointed with the food that I ordered. Three people went to this restaurant, and we ordered 5 dishes, total amount with tips $115. The chicken was tasteless. The jellyfish and vegetable with Chinese preserved tofu were mediocre. The fried noodles with sea food (大鹏炒米) were terrible. They should change the menu, from the word "fried" to "boil". The chef totally didn't fry the noodles. The servers said Americans like this cooking style. I can make this dish 10x better than the chef in this restaurant."
"Ordered three dishes , not impressed, edible but maybe I was looking for a heavier canto touch not American Chinese food . Best dish was the toufu with seafood and lufa stir fried in some sauce Roast duck seems like it’s deep fried duck and it was too oily , we got half a duck and fat beneath the skin was overwhelming . Got fried fish dish , it some belt fish Cooked with salt and pepper spices but it hardly turned out that way. Instead we got fried fish with funny dull taste loaded with chills n spring onion ."
"Very nice staff, and very nice food! We ordered a lot of our Chinese food favorites, and it all came out in a timely manner. The egg rolls are to die for, and we also got shrimp fried rice, sesame chicken, beef lo men, shrimp chow ho fun -- so. good. The workers seemed to enjoy our sticky note we left on the table :)"
