"this is the Xi'an Famous Foods! it's pretty amazing. it's nestled on Liberty Place in the financial district of New York City. walking in, you'll notice a brightly lit dining area with a counter in the rear. the order is placed using an electronic menu: you can pay here or at the counter. after your order is placed, a ticket is printed and you wait. while waiting you can't help but notice all the products displayed. all with the famous labels. there also books displayed. I couldn't help but to sneak a peek at what was inside. flipping through pages of beautiful images and images of food. my appetite was building as I turned each page; the smell of the other patrons' food wasn't helping either. I didn't realize but I was so entertained by these things that I was surprised to hear my number being called. My food was ready!! I ordered two types of dumplings: lamb and pork, hand pulled noodles with beef, and a salad. I was blown away. if you're in the area, or you can find others in NYC, please make this a stop for delicious food. you won't regret it. update: I went back to it recently. I ordered the pork burger and spicy pork and cabbage dumplings. omg, what a delight. I can't tell you enough times that this is the spot!! the street was previously scaffolded, which made it hard to find but the scaffolding is now gone. the street is now brightly lit and the shop is in plain sight."
"Recommend by friend to try this Chinese restaurant. Opt for the pulled pork thick noodles, preparation time is reasonable and dining atmosphere is great too. The noodles texture are great given the thickness of it and take out from shop. Choose the normal spicy, great taste as recommended. They sell individual tin of in-house chilis too. Will be back to try others."
"Will always come here if visiting NY. Had the beef noodle last time but wanted to try the Spicy Ground Lamb Dumplings in Sour and Spicy Soup. The flavors are rich and bold, offering a delightful fusion of spice and tanginess. It's really convenient ordering on a touchscreen, making it seamless. However, the bustling atmosphere may pose a challenge, as finding a seat can be a bit of a struggle. Despite the crowd, the tantalizing dumplings make it a worthwhile visit."
"Noodles are ok. Pork bun and soft tofu taste better. Very busy between 12 and 1 pm week days."
"The hype doesn’t lie. I got the Pork Noodles (regular spicy) and Cucumber Salad. Ironically even though the salad is also spicy, the cool temp and natural sweetness of cucumbers was the perfect balance to the noodles. The noodles were SO good - varying width, great chewy texture that only comes with fresh noodles, and well balanced flavor with just enough spice. I enjoy spicy foods and got “Regular” spice level which was just enough to get my nose running but not so spicy that I couldn’t enjoy the food and taste the seasonings. I came here on. Saturday at 3pm so there was no wait to order and received my food quickly. It has scaffolding around the building as of Sept 2023 so it can be easy to miss. Highly recommend overall!"
