"The portion was small compared to the price. The food was above average but didn’t justify the price. I didn’t like the automatic 18% gratuity charge and the suggested 18% addition tip on top. I do not recommend due to the forced tip and small portion."
"China Xiang is one of the best Chinese restaurants I've been to in NYC. They offer Hunan cuisine, which is less common than other types of Chinese cuisine. It is also known as Xiang cuisine, hence the name China Xiang. This type of food is characterized by its dry spicy flavour and also cured/smoked ingredients. Unfortunately, one of my friends who I went with doesn't have a high spice tolerance, so we did not order that many spicy dishes. It was still an incredible meal. But I need to pay another visit to experience the true flavours."
"Ordered from this place half a dozen times and tried 10+ dishes. Most things are ok, not too bad nothing really good either. It's more for convenience than tasty treats. However, my last order has a dish called eggplant and beef. It's bland as hell. And the photo on mobile menu and the real dish look nothing alike. The chilli and scallions were missing, and the ingredients are cut in totally different shapes -- much more sloppy but timesaving big chunks. My photos show the real thing vs the menu picture. It's misleading or it's just a lie? Won't order again from them."
"Visited for dinner before a show. The egg drop soup and Dan Dan noodles were great but the stand out was the dry pot. Can't say we've had it before, but we're converts now. The taste was excellent, at spicy 'normal' we didn't make it unbearable, but it still packed a punch. And it was a generous serving."
"Duck fried rice was good but all the stir fries skewed towards the saltier side. Tomato with fatty beef was great, a little pricy but it had a lot of content inside and was very tomato-y. The soup itself was savory but a bit salty. Cabbage was salty and so were all the pork dishes. Mapo tofu was not good in our opinion, felt watered down. Shanghai stir fried noodles had good texture but the flavor profile was average. Recommend getting the dishes with plain rice to balance out the heavier flavors"
