"(Edit) 1 star review to replace previous 2 star. The maintenance I'm guessing supervisor, is absolutely incompetent. It is commonly known state law that 24 hour notice must be given prior to showings. I have an incredibly important meeting tomorrow that the maintenance guy is disregarding with less than 24 hour notice. I cannot in good faith give more than a 1 star review until Mr. Henry replaces him. He does subpar work, is condescending, a complete liar, and incredibly incompetent as previously stated. I'm not one to leave scathing reviews though I do not wish anyone else the headache and sheer disrespect that I feel has been imposed. I will leave his name on here in the future so you can ask Henry if he still works here. Will update with the maintenance supervisors name. Will most likely be pursuing legal services if he violates VA law tomorrow will update further depending on actions. I would steer clear of this company and am happy to be moving. Zero troubles until needing maintenance call, complete and utter shame. Will update with childlike patches to fixes tomorrow after the meeting."

"I have been a tenant with Old World Properties since July of 2019. I live in a second floor 2B 2BA in the fan. This company & the landlord, Mr. Downing, have been exceptional. Aside from an occasional missed email or phone call, we have gotten responses for any & all service and/or maintenance requests. Mr. Downing has supplied us with all the paperwork & information necessary whenever we need it. Rent & pet fees are average & manageable, and the company has made no inclination of raising them despite the state of our economy. Old World Properties does not have an actual website (ended up finding my current apartment on craigslist) & I consider it a hidden gem given the other city apartments I’ve lived in. Would recommend to anyone!"

"I rented an apartment from old world properties and I ended up very disappointed in how they deal with tenants. They are SLUMLORDS please beware of this company. I lived in the apartment for a year and it had an awful sewage or dead animal smell in the bathroom and the kitchen. Around the last 2 months of my residence there my neighbor upstairs had an exposed water pipe burst. Also to clarify it is against code to have any exposed pvc pipes visible. The ceiling was saturated and dripping profusely , as the walls also had water running down them. They said they would fix it later, as in after I moved out. Also after I moved out they kept all of my security deposit, with no intention to give it back. PLEASE BEWARE OF OLD WORLD PROPERTIES!!! They are the lords of the Slumlords"

"This company withheld a portion of our daughter's security deposit because a mattress was left at the dumpsters in the alley behind the building where my daughter lived. Multiple apartments in multiple buildings have access to these dumpsters, and for some reason Old World Properties decided to randomly hold us responsible for the mattress. I have waited a year to leave this review in the hopes that Old World Properties would fulfill their promises to return this portion of the security deposit. I have patiently made four phone calls and sent an email, and they promise to take care of this and still.....nothing. The company was no better at responding to the mice and insect problem in the apartment either. Renters should be wary of this company!"

"The best rental management company I have ever used. Mr. Downing is very professional and always on top of repairs when needed. I rented from him for several years (two addresses), and I personally know some of these people leaving reviews, and they're lying or exaggerating. Especially the one who claimed to have her apartment deep cleaned if that was a deep cleaning she needs to sue the company she hired, and not blame the company for subtracting from her rent for cleaning. There was one review in particular (Hazel) she never rented from Old world Properties because she applied for my apartment. She is merely mad because she did not meet the income requirements for the apartment. Posted at the bottom are some pictures of one of the buildings where I rented and honestly do they look like pictures of a building that is ignored? There are properties he manages for other owners too as well owning properties and sometimes he is forced to depend on those property owners to have repairs done. I have personally had him tell me "I'll turn it over to the property owner and he'll hopefully send someone by tomorrow." Can you really hold that against him? Although, I guess these few reviews aren't bad considering he has over 150 residents at any given time."
