"Updates Since my move out May 1 2023 A little late coming but after much ado and being accused of "sitting" on a refund check by silent owner Allyson Pritchett, I received my deposit back as I demanded it through Zelle. This took constant badgering on my part and a few months. It was not the $300 but the principal of the issue. They took great tenants and forced them out as they are doing to other friends in this complex. If you don't get a non-renewal notice they will force you out with a high rent increase. My apartment was $1165 for a 2 bedroom in May of 2022 before these people took over now its up by hundreds of dollars. Never mind the in and out of the apartments like boot camp inspections. In Kingsport??? Really?? God watched over us for sure. Praying for all those left behind and those considering moving here. Run! This place was peaceful and beautiful until new owners destroyed all that!! I am 62 and my husband is retired military age 65 and never have I ever dealt with such incompetence. To make a long story short about my situation the maintenance guy Israel told Property Mgr Angela Nordberg we did not allow the exterminator to enter our apartment...that is misinformation. The exterminator (Howie) stopped spraying when he learned of my medical conditon (I have an aneurysm and asthma). Shortly thereafter we received a Notice of Non-renewal of our lease. We pay on the first or prior to. Our home is immaculate and beautifully decorated and we do not have a dog that pottys on the grass or a dog at all. I have a medical letter from my MD. Property Mgr will not admit to this therefore I had no choice but to come to this conclusion by process of elimination. To make matters even worse our elderly neighbors were evicted after management agreed to a month to month lease and after getting a huge rent increase the management then decided there was no "month to month". They were served on 3.3 and asked to leave by 3.31. No signature on either of our letters. Another person was served a Notice of Non-renewal because her dog weighs over 25 pounds and is a safety concern..he is a non aggressive breed as I was informed. Jonathan Madill, owner, is a Chiropractor in Johnson City and should conduct himself in a more professional, compassionate manner, especially as a doctor of chiropractic care. Another owner is Allyson Pritchett Regional Manager is Jasmin Flores. Good luck trying to communicate with anyone as they do not respond to emails or calls and when Jasmin Flores finally does answer an email her response is curt and poorly written. Also be aware of charges on your account that they allow to sit that do not belong to you and then tell you they cannot remove them ...it's the program. I understand this seems long winded but please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. My move will be costing me thousands of dollars and we are on a fixed income never mind the extreme stress it is causing. We will be videotaping and taking photos of the apartment upon move out to protect ourselves and prevent any further misinformation. Just awaiting the next step. Praying for all involved, especially the sad aforementioned individuals Replying back to Allyson.. Are you kidding me!!! I have medical conditions and never was presented with organic alternatives. The exterminator opted not to continue to spray. I never asked him to not spray! Secondly "bend" the rules no one asked you to "bend" the rules. Do not even suggest that! I have no idea what you are talking about. No one told me why We got a non renewal but thanks for admitting to that. I do believe that is medical discrimation! No one even spoke to us after that day! So please don't even play this b.s. with me"
"Follow up review: I am writing to express our extreme frustration and disappointment regarding the prolonged delay in receiving our deposit refund. It has now been three weeks since our initial contact, and despite your assurance of an accounting error, we have yet to see any resolution. We moved out of the property on June 11, 2023, and the continued delays are causing considerable inconvenience. In August, we were informed that a check had been sent but would be canceled and replaced. Subsequently, in September, you acknowledged an accounting error. Regrettably, these assurances have not translated into any tangible action on our part. Given the substantial delay and the apparent disregard for legal obligations, we are left with no option but to demand the immediate return of our full deposit. We insist on receiving confirmation, along with a tracking number, demonstrating the dispatch of the corrected refund. This delay not only affects us personally but also raises concerns about the adherence to legal timelines for deposit refunds. We find this situation to be unacceptable and bordering on fraudulent. Please treat this matter with the utmost urgency. We expect a swift resolution and confirmation of the refund process to be sent to us promptly. Failure to address this issue promptly may compel us to explore further actions to protect our rights as tenants. My experience at The Retreat at Meadowview Apartments was far from satisfactory, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts with prospective tenants. During our time at this apartment complex, which spanned several years, we encountered several issues that made our stay challenging and frustrating. The most pressing concern was the lack of proper heating and air conditioning for the last four months of our tenure. Despite consistently paying our full rent on time, the management was aware of this issue and did not take any meaningful steps to resolve it. Living without essential climate control for such an extended period was not only uncomfortable but also a health and safety concern. To make matters worse, when we decided to move out, we faced a substantial delay in receiving our security deposit. It took an astonishing five months, even after receiving a receipt acknowledging that the money was owed to us. This level of disregard for tenants' rights and the delay in returning our rightfully earned deposit was deeply disappointing. In my efforts to resolve these issues, I was forced to contact both the FTC and our State Attorney General to intervene. This shouldn't have been necessary for a straightforward return of our security deposit. Furthermore, we observed similar problems and dissatisfaction among many other residents, which ultimately led us to leave this community. In summary, I strongly advise anyone considering renting at The Retreat at Meadowview Apartments to think twice. Our experience was marred by inadequate living conditions and a management team that seemed unresponsive to our concerns. It's my hope that this review will help others make an informed decision when choosing their next place to live. Follow up Review I am writing to you to talk about our ongoing concerns regarding the return of our deposit. It has been nearly two weeks since our last communication with your firm, and we have yet to see any progress in resolving this matter after receiving an email stating that you owe us the money and that it was an accounting error. You mentioned that you needed time to get your accounts in-house. This is ample time to rectify the accounting issues and facilitate the return of our full deposit. As a result, we are left with no choice but to demand the immediate return of our full deposit today. Please provide us with a tracking number confirming that the deposit has been dispatched for a timely refund. Our patience has been extended beyond reasonable limits, and we now need a quick resolution. I will keep posting updates until we receive our full deposit."
"Pretty good place to live. Management and maintenance are very nice and helpful. Angela is very nice and helpful and Israel is a good one man Maintenence crew. They both are some of the best apparent staff I have ever met. Buildings are nice and newer. There are a lot of dogs, but generally don’t hear them. Feels safe, but the main complaint would be the trash dumpster is far away if you aren’t in the building next to them. Another consideration would be how narrow the stairs are if you are moving to an upper unit. The way the railing are makes it hard to get larger furniture up. Honestly one of the better places I have lived so far and I think the rent is decently reasonable, will have to see if that’s the case when we go to renew. We are enjoying living here thus far."
"My Husband & I have lived at The Retreat at Meadowview for 5 years now. Being in our building the longest, we have seen many changes during our stay. We have always been treated with Courtesy and kindness. The current Manager Angela has always been so helpful in making sure things are taken care of if any problem came up. We had an issue with our AC unit and Israel came right away and fixed the issue. He was and is always so nice, friendly and always has a smile on his face. We appreciate Angela & Israel for doing their best to make this a nice community to live in. We decided to renew our lease and couldn’t be happier."
"Love this place. Very secluded and quiet for the most part. The Property Manager is one of the most sweetest and down to earth people I've ever met. Israel, the one and only maintenance man on Property says hello everytime I see him and he's a very hard worker. I would highly recommend living here, only 3 buildings as of now but may be more to come in the future. Only complaint is my upstairs neighbor is very loud and I can hear every foot step he/she makes. Most of the time it sounds like they're dragging furniture all around as well, always dropping heavy items. And frequently most activity is between 1:30am and 3am. And random times in between. They've awoken my baby a few times and that's not ok. Don't let this scare you off though. It's still the top 2 best places I've ever lived."
