"For starters, I'd be very skeptical about the 5-star reviews because the apartment solicited such reviews by giving discounts. As proof, refer to the flyer the apartment circulated. Further, this is a sub-par apartment with an above-average price tag. This decades-old apartment was showing multiple signs of aging at both my unit and the common grounds, but the management only cared about saving itself money. One employee who since left also said the apartment doesn't want to spend a dime for the tenants. Even for the cheap parts, the apartment always tried to fix them -often unsatisfactorily- instead of replacing them. This resulted in the old and broken parts getting broken repeatedly notwithstanding the haphazard repairs, exacerbating the hassle for the resident. I remember my old door lock being broken for 4 times, and the apartment only kept trying to fix it. Meanwhile, I had to disassemble the door lock lest I get locked in or leave it unlocked even when I was out. Additionally, during my short tenancy, the balcony suffered a rodent infestation, balcony door didn't lock, bathroom ceiling leaked, faucet wasn't working right, and etc. If you do your comparison shopping, you can get into better apartments at lower prices, including some much newer ones."
