"Murdochs has some of the worst people I’ve ever met. Shelby, Greg, and Jamie were absolutely horrible managers and they frequently called me stupid. Jamie was god awful. And all the staff were unprofessional and talked badly about each other, myself included. It was the worst job I have ever had and it totally fits the stereotype of a country club except where all the people who work there are white trash pretending to be something. The only good person there is Bailey the chef."
"Great course layouts and conditions with all the clubhouse amenities you could need. A little awkward with the club loading and unloading setup but still worth it."
"We had the 2023 Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame induction there Saturday November the 4th. The facility is impressive from the outside with plenty of parking. It is well laid out on the inside to facilitate events like ours which included a gathering and registration location, a reception, dinner, and follow on reception. The staff was well trained and friendly. For our event, the meal was buffet style. The food was good, hot and fresh. Fords Colony Country Club will be at the top of our list for consideration for next year’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony."
"UPDATED after playing the Blackheath course again on September 19th. After playing the course in late March and finding it in excellent condition, I was expecting even better conditions following a Summer of growth of the Bermuda fairways. However, after playing it yesterday, I was a bit disappointed in some of the conditions. In general the tee boxes are excellent, the fairways are tight from all the cart traffic, the bunkers vary greatly from unplayable to soft white sand, and the bent grass greens were very beaten up (tons of ball marks) and holding on. Frankly the greenskeepers have done well to keep them vibrant during the Summer months, but I thought by now they would be recovering. They are keeping them soft and wet, which creates a lot of damaging ball marks - many left unrepaired. That said, they generally rolled well, just not near as good as in the Spring. The fairways are packed and tight from cart traffic making it tougher for players having to hit longer irons or fairway woods. I love the course layout. It is visually appealing and although there is a lot of water, much of it does not come into play. The staff is welcoming and friendly. Note 2 added photos: #8 Par 3, and #17 Par 4 - a great hole! ******************* We played the Black Heath course on March 22nd. Despite 12 holes with water it is very playable as there is plenty of room to hit the ball. The greens were in great shape and played well. The green complexes had bunkers but plenty of areas for simple chip shots. The fairways were still a bit damp but well cared for and in good condition. We liked the warm up area to be excellent. The staff was friendly and the course Marshall offered water when he came by us. All in all a 5 Star experience and a course we will play again. The photos show #12 a par 3 and #18 which features an island green. Keep it right off the tee and you'll have an easy approach!"
"We loved working with Ford Colony Country Club's Director of Private Events Kristin Collins through the wedding day planning process. She was very responsive, flexible and helped us navigate through any issue that stymied our planning. We are extremely grateful and thankful to her and her team to make our wedding venue and wedding forever memorable for us and our guests. Our wedding was a huge success in part due to Ford's execellent team and we are so elated that we chose Ford's Colony Country Club as our wedding venue. The Garden Pavillion is absolutely breathtaking during evening and is a perfect venue for cocktail parties and receptions! Our guests loved the bar setup and seating arrangement on the dock outside the Garden Pavillion. The appetizers that were served prior to our wedding ceremony were loved and appreciated by our guests. Country Club's dining hall was chosen for our wedding ceremony and we couldn't have been happier with the ceremony's venue. Plenty of light in the hall. We highly recommend this venue for any couple who's looking into getting a wedding of their dreams! Staff is very responsive, helpful and professional!"
