"Nice room! We stayed in #113 for one night. Two queens and the one we slept in was comfortable and soft. Pillows were also comfortable and each bed had 4 pillows available. The room was clean and somewhat insulated as we could hear the rooms around us, but the sounds were muffled enough to not bother us. Several of the usb plugs did not work but we were still able to charge our devices. The bathroom was clean and the shower was comfortable and had a glass barn door.. There is a locked rack of bottles of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner provided in the shower. Towels were a bit stiff but plentiful. The only issue with the bathroom was several small black ants in the shower and by the trash. Breakfast had link sausages, diced potatoes, and eggs. Coffee was delicious. They had a large dining area available. The desk clerk was very courteous and answered the questions we had. The hotel is very convenient to I-81. We definitely would stay there again"
"Not a horrible choice of hotel but the issue with the hot water is true. They were notified of no hot water but after I had to take a cold shower. They said they had to reset the water heater. Advice: always have hot water ready and if you've gotta reset water temps... find a permanent fix. Breakfast was nicely run"
"Night clerk was not friendly. Gave us a room right next to elevator when my account profile says away from elevators. Went down and another clerk gave us a 3rd floor room away from elevator. Beds and even the pillows were great. No water pressure and was a lukewarm shower inn the morning. The woman tending breakfast was awesome. She had made biscuits and gravy but people took 4 biscuits armt a time so she ran out. Made cheesy omelets and homemade potato homefries cooked in the sausage grease. Really good Southern breakfast. So some low points but also some good ones. Won't be staying here again. 3 other hotels in the same area. Come down frequently to the Salem VA Medical Center."
"I visited this particular Holiday Inn Express location with my family and had a fairly pleasant experience. Overall, the front desk attendants were not super present and at times difficult to get ahold of. It almost felt as if I was inconveniencing them to ask a simple question. In any case, the rooms were fine however we were not provided an ice bucket which was a bit disappointing. The beds were comfortable and the shower functioned well. We also took part in the complimentary breakfast and it was fairly good for a free breakfast. Overall, I would describe the experience as above average for the price."
"I booked this hotel at the last minute trying to get as close to the basketball camp for my son as possible without breaking the budget. It was a great purchase. I wanted a suite with double beds and pullout so we could be comfortable and I am not upset. I usually stay at Marriott but they didn't have the pullout sofas in the price range that I was looking for but this was definitely the next best thing. The room and beds were clean. The staff was nice. They did not have a guest laundry. The breakfast was good. And we didn't feel on top of each other in the room, it was spacious (4 kids and 2 adults). I will definitely consider a IHG in the future."
