"Do not recommend this place to board your horse. I have pictures of my horse (14.2 mare) that has been bit and kicked by the owners horse. The owners horse has been kicking and biting other horses when she is moved in with them. My situation has been going on for a week now. It was brought to her attention the danger her horse was causing my horse and other peoples horses and the owner did nothing about it. I told her I have videos of her horse striking my horse and biting her. Her horse has charged me and my horse in the pasture as I’m putting on a halter on my horse to take her out of the pasture. I was extremely scared I was going to be ran over. I asked if my horse could be moved to another pasture (which is right next to the one she was in; which there is 1 horse in that other pasture) to be away from the aggressive horse. The owner had zero interest in helping me or my horse. She told me to leave her property at once."

"I boarded at Seahorse for five months and wanted to give my honest opinion for anyone looking. Overall, it’s a beautiful boarding facility with great boarders and feeders. Pros: - The fields are somewhat maintained and rotated - Great staff that really care and will go above and beyond when needed but you have to ask them directly - One of the better boarding options in the area - The facility is nice - The trainers that travel there are great - Larger turnout than most places in the area Cons: - In my opinion, the owner is not personable and unprofessional - When issues were brought up to the owner, solutions were shot down and no alternatives are offered - Not as much personalized care as I’d like and inflexibility with changes - Even though no solutions are given and nothing extra will be offered, huge favors have been asked by the owner, such as moving 700 bales of hay for her - I would not recommend field board unless your horse is bomb proof due to the mud, no blanketing options, no fly mask options (unless you put it on and it stays on), and fence feeding (which are not watched) - Hay offered is on the lower end - Dressage shows were not communicated to boarders so you didn’t know when amenities were closed or unusable - Fencing is scary… - Fly masks are left on in rain, which I opted to not have a fly mask due to increased concerns with horses in inclement weather and the fencing - There are no run in sheds for stalled horses and they’re put out in severe weather with nothing, not even a tree - Tribute grain - A full scoop (3 qt) seems to be 2 quarts when they feed - Very little shavings in stalls UPDATE: I knocked my review from 3 stars to 1 stars due to being told and harassed to remove the review. RESPONSE TO OWNER: We are not in the military and did not move due to a military move, which I did find a barn that better suited my horse’s needs. The information I posted is correct based off my opinion and what I experienced during my time at Seahorse Run. The owner has spoken to several boarders with great disrespect, including myself. I was informed that I was no longer being spoken to due to not buying a new saddle or taking her advice, which is unprofessional in my opinion. I was also told that people like me are the reason veterinarians commit suicide. Also, not professional in my opinion. In addition, several people have been contacted in hopes to smear my name, which is also unprofessional in my opinion. I had asked for simple accommodations to be made for her horse’s health and stated that I would pay more, which included buying mats for fields so my horse was not standing in mud, throwing hay in the mud only when the fields were wet and rotating throwing the hay in other areas when the fields were dry to prevent my horse from developing cellulitis from scratches, using a feed bag so my horse was no longer run off his grain by other horses, and paying extra for blanketing while my horse was on field board. Due to these issues, I was waitlisted for a stall in hopes to resolve the issues. I was told that field board did not include blanketing and that I could not pay extra for it. Instead, field boarders try to coordinate to change blankets for the field horses. In my opinion, tribute grain is high in starch and sugar and hard for horses to digest. The fencing is scary, in my opinion, due to injuries that can and have occurred. Yes, I did not stack hay because there was no incentive and my issues and concerns regarding my horse’s health were ignored. During my time at Seahorse, I had one staff that was very helpful and listened to my concerns with empathy. The responses can be observed for potential boarders themselves as my review was to share my personal opinion and experience at Seahorse Run. It is unfortunate that I shared my opinion and was attacked and told to take it down. The point of reviews are to share experiences for future customers so they can make their own personal decisions."

"My wife and I boarded our horse here for around five months, leaving at the end of August. She really enjoyed the facility at first but realized it’s downfalls after the honeymoon phase wore off. The barn, land and covered arena themselves were more than sufficient for what she needed, and well kept to say the least. The problem with this facility comes with its ownership and how operations are ran within the barn. On multiple occasions our horse had skin issues from muddy conditions and management came up with no solution for the problem. Tired of the extreme maintenance from dealing with the less than favorable footing (not due to the barn maintenance but because the ground is horrible in Tidewater and the surrounding areas of the Great Dismal Swamp), she decided to spend more on stall board when one became available. That still would not have given this location a bad review. A lot of the issues were fixable with more time spent on the well-being of our horse. I’m giving Seahorse Run a one star review because of how “management” handled a previous review given on the barn, which greatly impacted my opinion on boarding here ever again. My wife was harassed by the owner, staff at the barn, and treated with huge disrespect due to the fact she would not comply with their demands for her to take the review down. In my humble opinion, it would be hard for anyone to do business with the rude, direct and down right unprofessional business owner. Come for the sights, leave because of the incompetency. My hope is that management takes responsibility for why people leave and make changes accordingly for the well-being of the boarders’ horses and create a environment of mutual respect."

"I’ve been a boarder at Seahorse Run for almost 2 years and I can’t say enough good things about the owner and her staff. I feel so grateful to have found a barn for me and my horse to call our forever home. The owner and staff are amazing! They go above and beyond to make sure my pasture board horse gets excellent care all year round. The run in sheds are spacious and give great shelter in any type of weather. I have a 20 year old 17.2 hand OTTB that was never able to keep weight on before moving there and now looks like a muscled machine, he is happy and thriving! The owner is always ready to help and assist when needed and the staff goes the extra mile every day. They all care for my horse as if it’s their own! The covered arena is very large so you never feel crowded when riding with other boarders. It also allows you to ride no matter the weather conditions. The outdoor dressage arena is wonderful and the footing is awesome. The owner also connected me with a fantastic and very talented dressage trainer, that has been a godsend to an older rider like me, that’s learning dressage and has a hectic work schedule. My trainer helps him stay in the best shape ever with a structured training program. He is thriving under her training and has gone from a hunt horse to a horse that loves the challenges of dressage and enjoys each ride! Getting to the barn is always the best part of my day and everyone is always friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend Seahorse Run!"

"One of the best-maintained horse farms in the area. They are always grooming, improving their property. Nice group of boarders, with access to a variety of training, riding styles. Thoughtful owners have best interest of horses in mind, while managing varying needs of horses and owners. No nonsense approach keeps everything on even keel. Highly recommended."
