Reviews of MYers & Johnson Restoration Concepts LLC
"Only wish I had read these reviews before I agreed to have my deck restored... one thing is for sure... they're consistent in their POOR quality; POOR professionalism & LACK of integrity."
"DO NOT USE THEM!!! THEY ARE NOT CAPABLE OF DOING ANYTHING THEY CLAIM. EVERYTHING EVERYONE SAID ABOUT TIME LINES, SHABBY WORK, ARRIVING LATE, BREAKING MATERIAL, BREAKING CONTRACTS, IS TRUE! THEY ARE HUSTLERS!! Met Rochelle in Home Depot with her worker Gregory on July 1st. Greg had great pics and proof of work, so I hired them. She came on July 3rd, gave an estimate and we agreed via written invoice that material and labor would be included in one price. She asked for $500 up front for material. She came to my house on July 5th ready to demo. 1st warning, because we had not looked for nor purchased material colors material or anything. I stopped the demo and we went looking for material. She didn't order the material until after she started demo so material was delayed. She came to do my bathroom for 4 days without her husband, employees and son that she promised were coming. When I inquired about them she expressed her disappointment in them. She later asked for $500 more to purchase material. After 5 days of her doing "demo" and putting some tile on the shower wall she attempted to start the floor. I stopped her on July 11th and expressed my concern with the timeliness, her methods, lack of employees and inquired if she really had a Class A license. She explained that her husband has the license not her. I asked her to stop the work and asked if I owed her more. She insisted on finishing 2 parts out of 3 of the job and insisted I wouldn't owe her anything more than what I paid her. After inquiring about license husband finally shows up to help. He determined that the tiled wall was up wrong and they removed the little work she did. He ended up removing more of the wall wasting all of the tile. Claiming he would reclaim used tiles by soaking them. They broke majority of the tile and cut the tile instead of leaving them whole. I purchased 12x24 and they cut them into multiple 12x12. They cut the bull nose for no reason. They attempted to place the tile floor with thinset on a wood board without a buffer between. They don't cover anything while working. They used my existing marble counter top as workspace scratching it but EJ promised to buff it, (never did). Rochelle took multiple selfies while working that she posted to her fb page. All while continuing to promise to be finished in 2 more days, 2 more days, never finished. On 7/19 EJ asked about more money although Rochelle had already declined and promised to finish the job at no additional cost a week prior. When I informed him what his wife agreed to he became enraged and started ranting that he doesn't work for free and commenced to pack up. And that's how it ended folks, they left my shower without a wall, my floor incorrectly and partially tiled,, all the boxes of tile are all broken, cut, and used and must be purchased again. My carpet is ruined from unprofessional work habits. My bathroom doors are missing the screws to reattach, my shower attachments are caked with white goo. There are piles of sharp tile upstairs and everything they attempted is unfinished, improperly installed and must be removed. See pics! DO NOT HIRE THEM!"
"I was a long time friend of both the owner and her husband. EJ (elbert) had done some nice quality work for me in the past. We hired them to do a master bath renovation. We negotiated in good faith and came to terms. Having used them in the past, I put in a clause that I thought would have protected us from too much of a delay. We asked how long it would take and we’re told a week or two max. I asked for a very worst case scenario and was told June 17th. I extended them to the Friday the 18th to give one more day. Then I added a clause that said for every day after the 18th including weekends we would deduct $50 from the bill. Also we would purchase all supplies needed. Deal was agreed by Rochelle the owner and myself and my wife. Elbert went shopping for everything that would be needed for the job. We paid and a few days later the job was started. We ordered 20% extra tile for waste to be sure we had enough. Well they kept breaking tile and we purchased three more boxes of tile. Somehow, they kept running out of thinset, and we had to purchase 3 more bags of that, and extra mud for the shower too. As well as 2 extra bags of grout. Today is the 8th of July, and the photos show the status of the job. The shower floor is halfway down and you can see many waves in the floor where water will not drain properly when it is useable. There are three prices of broken tiles cemented in and different sized gaps throughout the walls and floors and corners. Last night was the fifth deadline and Elbert packed up everything when he left. They would show up and work 2 or three hours always claiming they had more workers on the way. He would commit to working Saturday’s and Sundays only never to show up. Today, he texted a reply “find someone else to finish the job”. Well Mr Johnson, your wife’s company is under contract. We just hired another company to come in and repair all the faults of this company and to finish this job. It’s a shame when you try to help a local small business and get swindled by lies and horrible work ethic. If you want a really low bid and you are willing to wait for months and Have your house unusable. Then you are willing to hire a professional company to fix and finish the job. Then this company is for you. A very unhappy ex customer and ex friend Dwane Cochenour"
"This is an honest review from a business professional. Good pricing with these people but poor quality, unprofessional and concerning matters of character and integrity. I have experienced first hand for both clients and myself the poor workmanship: work was not done in the proper order, stained flooring got on baseboards and was not repainted, supposedly new replaced tile was scratched, grout miscolored, etc. Elbert aka EJ is the husband of the owner Rochelle and she originally claimed he was licensed and authorized to do work but later claimed he was unlicensed (this was trusted at the time and unverified). Then there is the matter of professionalism: told me behind my client's back that she had dementia (untrue), gently rear-ended my client's vehicle and when confronted...EJ blamed his wife Rochelle and claimed nothing and did not apologize, I was called and cursed at in a voicemail with the excuse that it wasn't to me, mentioning of Sales pricing and real estate matters to the clients on the job instead of leaving it to the Realtor. Then there's the matter of integrity: saying they would be there at certain times and not showing up, saying they would do the job for a certain amount and finding ways to increase the price instead of sticking to the original list, not completing the job in a timely manner after stating the work was to be done in 2 weeks when it took over 3 months for a smaller amount of work, making excuses about cold weather for cutting tile when they could have done it in a store or in the house or with warm water on the tool, ETC. Then there's the matter of invoicing: handwritten and illegible and if typed...on MS Word with improper contractor verbiage for multiple pages and not condensed. Please do yourself a favor and consider the above real life examples and facts. I have written this so the same issues don't happen to someone else."
