"My stylist was a woman overdue for a lesson in humility. I just moved to the area for school and want to find a stylist who knows and appreciates natural hair. On my visit, Pink Glam failed to offer this. The worst part, however, was that my stylist made me feel unwelcome. In the past, stylists braid my hair with ease using minimal to no heat. At Pink Glam, after my hair was blow dried to excess, the stylist wanted it flat ironed. When I asked why a flat iron was being put to my hair, first she ignored me. Then she said something to the effect of, "I need more length, if you want it to look good it needs to be flat ironed unless you want a bald spot. Do you want there to be a bald spot?" This discourtesy caught me off guard. My afro may not be every stylist's wet dream, but I know from experience with different stylists that the heat was unnecessary. Yet not as unnecessary as the woman's arrogance. The shop is clean and the staff were professional. But if you're looking for a hairdresser who knows and appreciates natural hair, avoid. Update: It's been four days and these braids are starting to unravel. This has NEVER happened because I've never had someone who doesn't know how to braid agree to braid my hair. But since Telisha basically straightened my afro (instead of just saying she doesn't braid), the texture is too smooth for the braids to hold. The only good that's come from going to Pink Glam is that I have greater appreciation for everyone else who's ever done my hair. I've never felt more disappointed or ripped off."
