"i’ve been a tenant since may, and in the last few months have felt a true sense of community thanks to our lead concierge, markus. markus goes above and beyond the call of duty for the residents in a variety of ways. one of his areas of expertise and a true strength is his is planning events for the residents and ensuring that they’re all family friendly for those of us with children…even pet children! i am always welcomed with a smile, markus always asks about how my children are doing, and his level of care is genuine."
"I am extremely disappointed with the Apollo and Bozzuto as a whole. Bozzuto is currently being sued by the Attorney General of DC for colluding with other property management companies to unfairly raise rents across the DC area; my recent experience after choosing to leave the building shows this to be an accurate claim. Two months before moving out, I was offered a lease renewal that would raise my rent by $60, putting my rent WELL above current market value for the location, time of year, and quality of living. I could no longer justify the amount I paid in rent and therefore gave notice that I would be vacating my apartment with 60 days notice. Shortly after notifying the Apollo that I would be leaving, my apartment was listed for $200 LESS than my CURRENT monthly rent and $260 less than what I was offered for my lease renewal. This is obscene. Bozzuto is clearly price gouging throughout the region and is taking advantage of anyone currently living in their properties. Anyone who currently lives here - I would encourage you to leave when your lease is up. Additionally, while living here I got locked out of my apartment at least 3 separate times. One of those times I was locked out of my apartment for 15 hours and needed to sleep elsewhere. I lost work hours, had groceries spoiled, and there was absolutely no sense of urgency from anyone at the Apollo to get me back into my apartment. Thankfully I didn't have pets, medicine I needed access to, or god forbid a small child, or else the situation would have been much more dire. Edit 1/30 @ The Apollo: I have already been in touch with property management regarding this issue and they did not remedy the issue. You did not leave any contact information in your response - how would you “hear from me soon?” Please provide contact information if you want to actually remedy the situation."
"I frequented this place as a teleworker since 2022. I would often work in the lobby long after the closing of the Wydown coffee shop with no issues. So can someone explain to me why NOW the building has decided to kick all non-residents out of the lobby past four? If you’re a so called public place, you should be open to the public—not just the rich people who live there."
"It is dangerous to live at The Apollo in DC. I've been a resident since 2021. There were some inflated prices for lease renewal for which Bozzuto is currently being sued by DC Attorney General but I loved the staff and stayed in the building. In October of 2023 there were multiple attempted break ins into my and my neighbors apartment for which Apollo's response was beyond underwhelming and I was told if that I don't feel safe I should move. Here is what happened: For weeks there was banging on doors at all hours and I would alert concierges and in writing the management but nothing was done. Then, unauthorized people started showing up in our hallway and try to get into my and my neighbors apartments. Our hallway became a dumping ground for garbage and raw meat, our doors were coated with unknown chemicals, and our entrances were littered with mysterious white powders. The intruders also persistently knocked on our doors, attempting to gain entry into our homes. The situation intensified when our neighbor faced physical assault from an intruder during a confrontation, and yet, the building management remained passive. The climax of these incidents was the discovery of ominous notes in the stairwell by the police, detailing our apartment numbers, our occupations, who was away from home, our perceived financial status, along with expressions of hate. The police identified this as a clear case of stalking. The entire experience was deeply disturbing. Eventually, The Apollo responded by stationing a security guard in our hallway for a short period of time. They requested our input on potential solutions and compensation. Together with other residents, we proposed permanent building security and secured access to the stairwells, which the intruders had exploited. We also requested at least half of a month's rent as compensation, considering the personal time off I had to take from work to deal with these disruptions, not to mention the lost weekends and sleep. Their response came after three weeks, during which they ceased security measures and declined to implement any further safety enhancements. I am a woman who lives by herself and I was scared. In response the building told me that if I don't feel safe I should move out. Safety is not considered part of this "luxury" building."
"We have lived at the Apollo for 2.5 years already, and we absolutely love the building. The leasing staff have been very helpful anytime we've needed them, and they were flexible to work with us in the renewal process. The best part, hands down, is the concierge staff that most people interact with on a daily or almost daily basis. Jackie is especially kind and friendly and knows all of the dogs in the building! She always gives our pup some pets and attention when I take her out at night."
