Reviews
"I had reviewed the Standard very highly at the beginning o my lease, however I can now say that they are a terrible company to rent a college apartment from. They do not permit gatherings of more than 15 people, and will break up parties regardless of whether they even get noise complaints. They also heavily over charge for utilities, making you pay more than most single-family homes. If you are looking for a nice place to live and don't care about the price, this could be a decent option. However, if you expect to have any friends over, be loud, or have reasonable landlords, this place is not for you."
"I promise you, sign a lease anywhere else. I’ve lived in many apartment complexes in the area and I have never been charged over $30 for utilities. Once I moved here, I have been paying close to 100$ for “electricity, water, and sewer” every month. Even for december it was close to $100 when my apartment was completely EMPTY for half the month because we left for break. That just doesn’t make sense. Several of my fellow residents as well as their PARENTS have called regarding this and they say they will “take a look” and they will never pick up your call again. Everyone’s simple bill (utility app) shows a different “average cost of water/electricity/sewer” and nothing adds up. It’s literally a scam as if we are covering utilities for more than just our apartment. Management sucks and there’s always something wrong with elevators. They always say they will help but never do. Not that this review will change anything but it could save you trouble if you are thinking of signing here."
"Great experience so far, the staff’s very helpful and the events are a ton of fun. Most people are complaining about things that are beyond the properties control, but everyone has their own experience. I would recommend living at the standard."
"I deeply regret signing a lease here at The Standard. If I could get out of my lease today, I would. Even though the building is brand new construction, it was very sloppily done. There is part of my floor with no subfloor underneath, so the vinyl planks are splitting. There is paint splatter all over my floors, missing and unfinished trim, and two light switches that do not fully cover the holes in the wall behind them. Upon move-in, everything was dusty - my floors made the bottom of my feet black. They even had us do the punch-sheet, which is unheard of - there are people who get paid to do that job after new construction. Hallways are consistently filthy - trash, bodily fluids, and even food have sat untouched for weeks. The trash chute is constantly breaking (I'm talking almost every weekend), so the floor of the trash room fills with everyone's trash since they can't dispose of it. It is awful, and disgusting. My washing machine has not worked for the entire time I've been here, since August. Management is largely unresponsive, and has cancelled my work order for this issue several times with no resolution. After ignoring several maintenance requests and emails over the span of 1.5 months due to standing water in my washing machine. I had to buy a dehumidifier because there is no way to vent the apartment since the windows don't open at all. They only came out to drain it once I threatened to start paying my rent into escrow. Once they finally sent GE out to see what was wrong with my washing machine, it had been 2.5 months since my initial maintenance request. GE identified the problem and ordered a replacement part. I called management today and asked them to send someone to install the part. Instead, they sent maintenance to test my washer for the third or fourth time, and told me they couldn't install the part because of warranty. I feel bad for the maintenance manager. He is doing his best, but it seems like management uses him as a scapegoat rather than actually dealing with issues. Every interaction I have had with management has been unhelpful. They told me last Sunday that they were putting in a priority ticket to be dealt with within 24 hours and nobody showed up. On top of that, amenities that were advertised upon signing the lease were changed shortly after move-in. The gym is no longer 24 hours, and the roof top closes earlier than originally stated. The building is also not secured. They have gates installed, but do not keep them closed. Multiple cars have been broken into because of this. On the flip side, there are doors that will not open for people with a fob, and even after getting my fob reset. Finally, the parking situation is ridiculous. For the hundreds of people who live here, there are only 6 visitor spots. The fee for visitors is wild, as well - my wife parked for just three hours last night and was charged $32. There's no prices posted in the garage, so I'm sure plenty of people have been blindsided by this. I pay more than I pay for my mortgage to live here during the school year, and they cannot even be bothered to provide residents with any sort of quality service. Each time they've responded to the same issue, it's back to square one, like they've made no note of what has been previously discussed. It's incredibly disruptive to my schoolwork, and just all around aggravating. I fully recommend avoiding The Standard at all costs."
"I am not a resident here, but this apartments’ customer service is awful. Their parking garage meter overcharged by card by $56. I called and left 3 messages and spoke to someone 3 times and left an email. Every time I spoke to someone, I was told someone will reach back out to help me and no one has. This is incredibly unprofessional and I’m incredibly frustrated. The front desk staff has been trying to help me, and I appreciate that, but they tell me that they can’t help me and their managers need to. So I’m assuming the management has just been ignoring this issue or pushing it to the side. The management of this apartment complex does not care at all about their residents and guests. It has been weeks and this issue has not been resolved or many any progress toward resolution. Avoid parking or renting at this complex at all cost. They do not care about their residents and guests."
