About the Business
Herwald Bruce T DVM is a veterinary care institution located at 609 2nd Street Northeast in Washington, District of Columbia, United States. The institution prides itself on providing personalized service and advice focused on the health and comfort of your pet, rather than just the bottom line. The veterinarians and staff are passionate animal lovers who strive to make every interaction, from wellness visits to surgical procedures, as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
To stay connected with the institution, clients are encouraged to download the VitusVet app, where they can access their pet's records, request prescriptions, and more. The institution also has a memorial fund, the Julie Fund, in honor of Dr. Julie Giles, the former owner of Union Veterinary Clinic, who had a deep love for animals and veterinary medicine. Donations to the Julie Fund are used to help clients and pets with limited resources.
Established in 2002, Herwald Bruce T DVM offers full-service, small animal veterinary care, including medical, surgical, and dental services. The institution is conveniently located near Union Station, but parking can be challenging, so clients are advised to allow extra time to find legal street parking. The parking area behind the building is private and owned by neighborhood businesses, so clients should be mindful of this to avoid ticketing and towing.
Overall, clients have praised the institution for the exceptional care and compassion shown by the veterinarians, technicians, and staff. Whether it's a routine check-up or a more complex procedure, clients can trust that their pets will be in good hands at Herwald Bruce T DVM.

"Overpriced and nothing solved after 4 visits"
"This place is growing on me. Prices are not cheap, but I suppose I'm hostage to what's close by... And if there wasn't this option, the travel alone would make vet cost worst... So I will say the cost is on the high side of reasonable. But, you can find yourself waiting a long time if you come during a rush; I sat for an hour waiting when I had an appointment and showed early and checked in. I'm not counting the time I waited almost an hour due to an emergency case that came in. The front desk staff can seem either unduly overwhelmed or oblivious, maybe both; there are a plethora of people working there, and two people at the front desk, so it boggles me. Having said these negativish things, I have received what matters most... good treatment from the doctors. There are clearly ways this business could improve, but the core function is intact... So I optimistically give five stars. BUT I will definitely come back and knock this down a star if I have to endure another half-hour plus no-reason-wait. For instance, another time the staff didn't communicate so the front didn't know my script and instructions were ready, which also happened once. Bottom line - You get GOOD CARE from the vets, but the price can be a bit premium, and the support service a source of frustration."
"The doctors are great and everyone is friendly. My pets have been patients for years and even as I have moved all over DC, I have never considered looking for a new vet. Highly recommend!"
