"Hmmm...it's kind of, sort of, interesting, maybe. But pretty expensive admission for some simple exhibitions. One included a moving chair while another was just a lobby full of their trash. Do have to question if these were, in fact, art or just a lack of imagination. Either way, I can say that none were thought provoking. In fact, it was more interesting just casually chatting with the staff. I do wish them luck with new exhibits in the future. But definitely wouldn't recommend from what I saw."
"Def unique art. Provides some good photo ops. But I think it’s overpriced for the amount of exhibits, especially since 1 of the buildings was closed during our visit. Checked it off the bucket list but wouldn’t plan on revisiting"
"The Mattress Factory isn't for everybody. I enjoyed it but my boyfriend was disappointed. You should definitely look up the discounts they offer on admission because we got in at a steep discount that was very much appreciated! There are definitely some exhibits that make you question what is art. I like that it made me think deeply about what makes art art and how we perceive art. But there were also some really cool exhibits that we both thoroughly enjoyed. Also there was a little art workshop outside that we got to make a quick little souvenir to take home as well!"
"Alright, here is the deal… If you’re not down for a bit of artistic chaos, then you should probably go elsewhere. If you’re into lots of bright, vibrant colors found objects, a bit of visual, randomness, and plenty of really heartfelt and introspective philosophical statements, then this is the place for you. You might even luck out, and Randy himself may be around. He is a real treat. No admission, they do take donations and sell a bit of merch. Really cool neighborhood that is definitely on the rise as well. Only a few blocks away from the mattress factory."
"This is probably my favorite place to go when they announce a new exhibit. A few summers ago, I saw a Philadelphia artist named Shikeith featured here. The experience was visceral and transformative. I ended up going back multiple times after just to see his floor. There are many installments that are permanent as well. It is very thoughtfully curated."
