"This is a great moderate hike close to Concord. I took the tower trail out to the fire watch tower and there is some moderate elevation gain on the way there. The path isn’t too rocky though and the view is amazing from the top of the tower!"
"Well marked trail. Different terrain, some parts are flat, some rocky, some rooty, and others both rocky and with lots of roots, which I actually like. Bugs were not bad today. You can climb to the top of the fire tower to get a great view!"
"First time here and would definitely go back. Didn't quite make it to the Fire Tower as it began to get pretty cold and slippery. My dog Rocco had a blast. Will definitely be goind back! It's absolutely gorgeous!!"
"A great parking lot to start our hike. It accommodated our group of 7 with about 10 parking spaces. Some of the group car polled, and there were still plenty of spots. The parking is popular and we saw dog walkers, hikers and even one fat biker enter the trail in location. This parking area has a nice map to orient you on your journey and a little library to explore while waiting for other members of your party to arrive and/or to bring a book home or to read on the trail. There are several entrances to this trail system. And all paths can lead to the most popular destination the Oak Hill Fire tower. You can traverse through the Oak Hill City Forest (The longest), Off Oak Hill Road through the Paul Mack/Hugh Emerson Tract, through Knowlton Forest and from Tower Rd (The shortest and widest) off of Oak Hill Rd in Loudon. This provides ample opportunity for people of all abilities to get to the Fire Tower. The Knowlton Forest entrance are marked as mountain biking trails, but also have a hiker bypass in one section. The Swop Slope Vita with great views over Penacook and Boscawen are at the top of the hill in the Knowlton Forest section. A second Vista can also be found over looking parts off Concord and Penacook and Parts of Boscawen. Both vista locations have bench to rest a moment. This end of the forest is mostly single track trail most suitable for hiking. although we did encounter one bike. We traveled 5.5 miles up tot he fire tower and back down for about 3 hours of exploring and visiting the two vista locations. Longer or shorter hikes are available and can be done from this location so it is suitable for all groups and ages of hikers with a little planning. I look forward to returning here and exploring some off shoots that I had not explored before."
"2 hr round trip to the fire tower for my wife (27), daughter (5), and myself (32). For a healthy, active family this trail was great experience. Little long for our daughter but she made it through. Would be happy to hike again."
