Reviews
"The Bellevue is a perfect location, two minutes from wonderful Well's Beach. The units are generally perfect, plus there is swimming pool, sauna etc.... But above all, it is the welcome that is absolutely extraordinary. Steve at the front desk is the kindest, most courteous, welcoming, helpful, friendly person you could ever meet. He alone is one of the reasons why we return to Bellevue year after year. It's like coming home."
"We've been staying and loving The Bellve for years! We brought our children each summer and now we meet up with those grown children and our grandchildren!"
"Close to the beach. Nicely updated room. Beds were comfortable. Pool was great. Would stay here again. Room was clean."
"I was hesitant to book a room here based on the reviews but I'm glad I did. My room, 131, was clean, cute and perfect. There was an issue with the bathroom door staying closed but that was hardly a deal breaker. I never saw a woman manning the front desk, my interactions were with Steve and another young man. Both were friendly and awesome to chat with. My room had a nice size shower with great hot water and pressure. The bed was a little beat down but still super comfortable. I'm on Vaca not there to watch TV but I turned it on because some of the reviews claimed it didn't work or didn't support the cable channels...i didn't have any issues. Same for Wi-Fi....no issues with my Android. The location to Wells Beach, an arcade, a couple of restaurants and shops are all within a five minute walk. Other shops and restaurants are about a 10 minute drive away. I didn't try the sauna but the hot tub was great and all the jets worked. I prefer really really hot water so it could have been hotter for me, but will be perfect for others. The pool was kinda cold so I didn't go in. These amenities are available until 8:45pm. I would definitely return to Bellevue. I think some of the reviews are nitpicking, it's somewhat outdated in places but definitely not falling apart. My only real complaints are that my room needed darkening curtains because I like to sleep in complete darkness, and when the sun rose it shined right into the room directly on the bed. My other complaint is that this particular room is the closest to the main road so traffic was a little loud one morning but if your an early riser it won't be an issue. If you're looking for a grand hotel this place isn't right for you. Family friendly, with great staff and the location was great. Oh...no breakfast included but coffee in the lobby until 11am and I didnt use the pool table because I think a couple of the balls might have been missing (coin operated)."
"If I could give ZERO stars I would! My family and I used to enjoy staying at the Bellevue by the Sea as we have been coming to visit Wells ME for many years. The property is now under new management and we found our stay to be absolutely miserable. Upon check in, the room was extremely filthy with heavy dust and dirt in the bathroom and on the bed frames, sandy floors, feminine product wrappings and potato chips sprinkled on the floor. Also, can’t forget to mention the chewed gum stuck to the side of the bed frame. WE WERE HORRIFIED! During our stay there was a brief heavy rainstorm that resulted in water pouring through the skylight. Our luggage was soaked. I went and reported the issue to the front desk. I was shocked and surprised when the front desk worker told me that “the board of directors does not allow them to take guest feedback”. She became very defensive and confrontational when we asked if we could speak to the manager. The woman explained that she could not release the phone number for the manager and the name for the board of director due to “HIPPA”?? (Am I missing something, hippa is a healthcare law and does not apply to the hotel industry). We were concerned that the leaky skylight had not only ruined our trip but was about to do the same for the next guest. The front desk did say that there was another party checking in the day we were checking out of room #203 and there was rain in the forecast, YIKES! I have never written a bad review EVER and hate to do this but was encouraged to do so by the front desk worker. She said that there was nothing she could do and encouraged us to write out our complaints to get the attention of the board of directors. I surely hope they are able to read this review and make necessary change! Needless to say we we will never return and we will tell our family/friends to steer clear of the Bellevue by the Sea. There are tons of beautiful places in Wells, please do not waste your money!"
