"We stayed 2 nights the rooms, lobby and decor was very nice and clean however the hallways smelled of BO really bad. The toilet in the bathroom is too low. The toilet paper is in a awful spot but really not much they can do about that. The water in the shower burnt me so bad that I literally screamed for my husband to help me. It changes temperature while your showering to very hot unbearable and you need to shut the water off and wait for it to go back to normal. The drain in the shower is awful it doesn't stay up which makes the water rise in the tub kinda gross feeling. There is only one mini trash can at the door when you enter the room. Okay so with all that said my biggest issue with this motel/ hotel is Sandy the receptionist at the front desk during the day. She told my husband that they clean the rooms daily and we need to leave when they do it. We said we didn't want our room cleaned and she said that we don't have a choice it's mandatory daily. I have never heard of such a thing. She told my husband that the maids leave early so we needed to be out of our room by 1230 for them to clean it. We'll we really didn't pay attention to the time because we didn't need to leave until 115. So when the maid knocked I had just gotten out of the shower so my husband told the maid that we didn't want our room cleaned and she said she will get in trouble if she doesn't clean our room so he says okay come back at 115. The maid must have told Sandy and she had the nerve to call our room and tell my husband we need to get out of the room and my husband said we will be out at 115 she proceeded to argue with my husband saying you said you would be out by 1230 he said yup and now the time has changed to 115 she said I'm calling my general manager and my husband said go ahead call him and have him call me so I can tell him how you treat your guests throwing them out of their rooms. At 115 the maid was waiting outside our door for us to leave. I have never felt so invaded at at hotel in my life. This is a ridiculous policy. You should have the choice to have your room cleaned or not. We will never stay here again because of Sandy's rude behavior she needs to go to communication classes to learn how to treat the public/ guests."
"I recently spent 5 nights at the Maine Evergreen Hotel. The staff is amazing, all the way from greeting me by name when I walked into the lobby to check in, to enjoyable conversations with the bartenders, and right through the checkout process. The rooms are comfortable and even have the charm of the outdoors room entry. My room was cleaned everyday during my stay. Perhaps one of my favorite things about the hotel is all of the local art displayed throughout the common areas. It was almost like walking through a museum. The furniture and decor in the lobby and other common areas was beautiful as well. I would highly recommend the Maine Evergreen to anyone spending a night or more in the area."
"I don't typically do reviews of hotels....but this one is different. This hotel used to be a typical "Choice" hotel, run of the mill, "in and out" location. But the owner and his wife wanted to elevate their property. So during Covid, they completely remodeled and changed the vision of the property. While still part of the Choice group, it is now an "Ascend" hotel....these are niche hotels that reflect the priorities and passions of the owners....every Ascend hotel is different. The attention to detail at the Maine Evergreen is outstanding. Little corners are beautifully and pleasantly decorated. The halls are lined with art for purchase. The dining area is OUTSTANDING. And they serve great, locally roasted coffee which is also available for purchase. My wife was delighted with our stay....and that's HIGH praise! Stay here! You'll love it."
"It was our first time staying at The Maine Evergreen hotel. Thomas took our reservation over the phone and made quick order of things when we got there. He was great with food options and other info as well as great to talk with in general - he was great! The room and bathroom was exceptionally clean, the AC worked well and the bed was comfortable. The common areas were nicely decorated and not outdated. The breakfast was probably the best “free breakfast “ we’ve had when staying at a hotel. Each staff member we encountered in the morning was friendly and helpful. Also spoke with the manager/owner (don’t remember) in the morning (I think his name was Alec) and he was great to talk with as well. This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in a long time!!!"
"Great service by Thomas and the young lady that checked us in (I didn't catch her name). First time staying at the hotel. It was nice and clean. The bed was very comfortable. We did end up changing rooms as we noticed the air conditioner seemed to be making the carpet wet but Thomas took care of us and moved us to the next room. Also really liked the complementary 24/7 coffee, tea, and hot chocolate station - very nice perk! The one downside would be the noise from the highway if you are a light sleeper. Great stay though and would stay again."
