The IVE at CT Ave

"Had a decent experience here until management charged us for a repair to their cabinet that wasn't out fault. I had read reviews online for IVE before this warning me about IVE's business practices but I wrongly assumed my experience would be better. The issue is currently in dispute but essentially IVE is trying to charge us for normal wear and and claim that because we didn't note it on our move-in sheet. It is hard to believe they'd expect us to predict what will break in a year long lease. We also got zero notice of the charge until we went to pay rent, despite the fact that IVE has no issue emailing and texting us (even sending us notices to pay rent when we have already paid rent). We have also had repeated problems with our washer-dryer unit which is so loud (despite getting maintenance out multiple times) that I feel bad for my neighbors every time I wash clothes. We have also experienced an ice storm where all of the steps appeared to be salted except ours, and I slipped and almost fell which was scary. We have also had issues with our bathroom ceiling and walls leaking yellow liquid, which I learned may be a sign the previous tenant was smoking cigarettes in the apartment and that IVE simply painted over the smoke stains. We have also noticed that not all of the walls appear to be fully painted, with a few areas looking and feeling like only primer (not a final coat of paint) was applied. We have been good tenants, often paying our rent early, and yet IVE seems adamant on nickel-and-diming us to repair their own property."
