"Moved to The Curb as my first "luxury" apartment and was very excited. Well, that excitement lasted for about a month. The construction is so cheap I can hear everything my upstairs neighbors are doing. This includes running around, constantly moving furniture, jumping, hearing them use the bathroom, hearing them clean the floors, hearing them use the washer/dryer. Forget trying to contact the leasing department. They get you in, have you sign your contract then poof. They are gone and no longer feel the need to answer your emails or concerns. I have documented many times residents have made me feel very uncomfortable. Recently had two members of management enter my apartment without my permission. Working from home in my bedroom, I all of a sudden hear a male's voice say "hello" in my apartment. I freak out and so does my dog. I rush into the living room to see two members of management trying to come into my apartment. They say "we have a move out inspection requested for this apartment." I tell them I am not moving out as my lease is up in May. They continue to ask me and I continue to say no. All they said at the end was "oh must have been a mistake." To come into my apartment because you made a mistake is totally unacceptable. I emailed the General Manager (Jordan) about this uncomfortable situation THREE TIMES and have yet to hear back so I have taken it here. To top this off, I received a closed service request in my email that states "Prevention" as the reasoning for the request that I NEVER SUBMITTED!! Talk about covering your tracks. Ever since this happened I feel uncomfortable in my own home knowing they can come in any time without notice."
"TLDR: We played upstairs neighbor roulette and lost horribly. Original Review: I waited 3 months to write this review to make sure it wasn't a gut reaction. We've loved just about everything about these apartments - nice layouts, more than enough amenities, friendly maintenance and cleaning staff, spacious garage, and good location. The one massive negative has been the horrible upstairs neighbors we are stuck with for the next 20 months. The flooring between apartments is very cheaply made, I can listen to loud conversations (seems to be some relationship issues going on up there), hear them going to the bathroom if I'm in my bathroom, and worst of all they have 2 children running around all day that create just the worst reverberations into our apartment which has had significant negative impact on our daily lives. Hours on end, day after day, we are stuck listening to the family living above us. We've contacted the leasing office and they have made a weak attempt to make sure they have enough carpeting - but the issue has persisted partly because of cheap construction and partly because these parents upstairs have zero control over their hyperactive children. Be warned, if you don't shell out the extra $100 a month for a 5th floor apartment and you get some horrible people living above you, get ready for a wild ride. Other comments: construction just got approved for some big new apartments across the street, so start expecting construction noises starting in 2023. Dog owner here and I would say the majority of dogs are NOT friendly and people leave dog poo everywhere. Smoke alarms are insanely sensitive in the apartments, just pre-heating the oven sometimes sets it off..."
"The Curb community has a lot to offer, but the benefits are overshadowed by cheap construction, excessive noise, and a lack of accountability. If you plan on moving to the Curb, don't move into building A unless you want to pay extra to live on the top floor. The noise from above is a constant reminder of the building's cheap construction despite being considered a "luxury" property. The family above us allows their child to run, jump, stomp, and (what I can only imagine is) body-slam the floor for a majority of the day and into the night. If he's not doing one of those things he's rolling a giant cart above us, causing a loud rumble that shakes the ceiling. The noise gets so bad that sometimes our dog barks because she thinks someone else is in our apartment. After several months of complaints we were told by management that their floor covering is adequate (our lease states that 70% of the floor must be covered, including the use of padding to limit noise if you're hindering other tenants' "enjoyment" but I have my doubts that the padding rule is enforced.) Management "checks in" on occasion to ask if the noise has improved but it feels like an empty gesture because we have been dealing with this for the past 8 months. Speaking of noise...ever wonder what it's like to have fire alarm so sensitive that preheating an oven sets it off? You don't have to wonder anymore if you move here! Alarms are extremely sensitive and go off almost every time we cook because the cheap oven gives off a lot of heat. We've resorted to opening the balcony door, blasting the microwave fan, and putting an air purifier next to the stove every time we cook. OTHER COMMENTS: Several of the dogs in the complex are unfriendly or aggressive. Many of the owners don't pick up after their dog, and I've had to wash at least three pairs of shoes after stepping in dog poop."
"REQUEST A MOVE-OUT INSPECTION! TO AVOID CHARGES! Also be sure to check the floors for dirt on move-in walk through and report it! I recently moved to a different apartment within The Curb, while its overpriced and has very thin floors it's been pretty nice. However, the new apartment I switched to ended up having filthy floors and some bugs. To be honest, this was my first time living in a "luxury" apartment so I was pretty used to that being the standard in the past so was only mildly disappointed. However, I then received an invoice that I was only getting some of my security deposit back because they charged me $150 for "DEODORIZING"! I am a single women that only lived there for 1 year, and a non-smoker. Never in my life have I lost any money from my security deposit! Attached are photos of what my apartment looked like before I moved out for reference. I talked to one of the managers and was told they would not be able to show me any bill for the services or give me any evidence that the charge is valid. It is such a shame that a complex so expensive would stoop to skimming money off of security deposits. Apparently I should have REQESTED a move-out inspection. NEVER have I had to request one, usually that's just done, guess Connecticut Tenant rights are lower than other states. I am beyond disappointed. The apartment is okay but these types of business practices are frankly inexcusable in all cases especially at this price range. If you choose to move in here just assume the security deposit may work like the move-in fee - NON-REFUNDABLE. Your only chance at saving yourself is to request an inspection which they will never bring up or mention to you besides apparently at the bottom of one of the emails they send out to attempt to avoid legal liability."
"The curb c is the newest addition to the curb apartments. My family and I moved here about a month ago. The place is spot clean , the staff is friendly and the neighbors are great. They keep the amenities area really clean. The grills are cleaned daily as well as the club room and the gym. They vacuum the pool and test it every week. The place feels more like a resort than the apartment building. I enjoy everything’s about this building and I have referred 3 of my friends and 2 family members that live at A , B and C currently and they love it too. There is a dog park and the location is convenient. I want to thank Rebecca the manager for always assisting whenever we had a concern as well as the maintenance team especially Mo. Update 7/1 SECURITY DEPOSIT —->Takes longer than expected. It took almost 2 months after moving. Coffee machine in the lobby of the Curb C —> It is such a great convenience that they have a coffee machine so residents can make their coffee. It is most of the time empty and it seems they are not ordering enough coffee to supply the machine. It is the fifth time that it is empty within a month. This is something that other neighbors noticed too."
