"We can’t say enough about our stay at the House of 1833. Our experience was wonderful for so many reasons, starting with the innkeeper Evan. He is so welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, and a phenomenal cook. The breakfasts are very creative and delicious !!! This bed and breakfast has many artifacts, photos, antiques, etc. which greatly enhance the ambiance of the home. It is located near restaurants, museums, shops, Foxwoods casino, and of course the Mystic River. We plan to re-visit the House of 1833 as soon as possible."
"Just one of the coolest most historic place we have ever stayed. Wonderful host. We still joke about his presentation of the blues for breakfast. If you are looking for a romantic evening in the wonderful town of mystic stay here!"
"House of 1833 was my first real experience with a B&B. The innkeeper Evan was so incredibly accommodating in all regards. My girlfriend and I could only stay one night and he amended the 2-night minimum for us and put us in the Cupola Room which I could not recommend more. This B&B is for people who enjoy history and amazing home cooked food. The atmosphere and decor had such meaning and historical significance to it, with Evan telling us a story behind each piece down to the smallest detail. The breakfast portion of our stay truly put to shame any prior hotels I have visited, with Evan presenting each group with several delicious options and accommodating to all dietary restrictions even on short notice. For breakfast he served sticky buns made from scratch with a Gran Marnier syrup and customized each person's egg dish with a quiche, French custard dish, or omelettes. Each room has such a cool theme and cannot be understated how amazing the Cupola room was, with a freestanding fireplace, canopy bed, jacuzzi, and a private 4th floor observatory fitted with lounge chairs and greenery only accessible from your room. Staying at the House of 1833 was truly a marvelous experience and we will be returning as soon as possible."
"We just spent 3 nights at the inn in the Veranda room. Could not have had a better experience. Evan was awesome from our arrival straight up to our departure. The inn was incredible, filled with so much history and antiques for viewing, big plus was Evan's story about each one that we showed interest. The grounds were well kept and the pool was in great shape. Breakfast was delicious eeveryday We will definitely be back!"
