Holiday Inn Express Mystic - Groton Area, an IHG Hotel

"My husband got a job in New London and we have been staying here for a few weeks. Great property and excellent staff. Front desk staff, breakfast lady and the house keeping staff all were super good!! Zoey in particular had been very helpful for any of the requests we had. She is a real professional when it comes to helping the guests and ensures great guest experience is delivered. I have noticed her interaction with other guests as well while I was in the lobby for a while."

"Room was frigid when we checked in. Took about 4 hours for the old style heater to get the room warm. Was told by the front desk that they turned on the heaters earlier to warm up the room. Not our room. Was told to turn the thermostat to a certain setting. Thermostat had no display and wasn't connected tom the old heater in the room. Room itself seemed clean and had plenty of storage. Went to breakfast, little kids wandering around everywhere. Eggs were way overcooked with some burnt spots. Bagels were hard and stale. Cinnamon rolls were crunchy from sitting under a heat lamp. The only thing edible was the sausage, pancakes, fruit and any prepackaged stuff. Very noisy hotel with lots of kids running around, people slamming doors, etc. Stopped at the desk to ask when the $100 hold on my CC would be returned. Was completely ignored by a girl behind the desk. Turned to leave and someone in the lounge area started talking to me, I guess she was an employee but no one working here wore anything that identified them as employees and she appeared to be taking care of her child. I had had enough of this place and just kept walking."

"The hotel was fair at best. Bathroom floor was filthy. Hotel jacked up the price for a holiday weekend. They also placed a $100 hold on my cc and then refused to take responsibility when it didn’t “fall off” as it is supposed to. Staff was not very helpful when I questioned this. In fact the person that checked me in said it would come off the following morning. After 10 business days it was still on my cc. Very unpleasant experience."

"The people here were so nice! The room was clean and spacious. Had a blast at the pool chatting with a 93 years young birthday girl! She came with her daughter for her annual birthday trip. How special is that?! The heated indoor pool was open later than many hotels which was a bonus. So many hotels have limited access to their pool so I was happy to see this one was open, heated, clean and a nice size."

"The tile floor in the entry and bathroom was polished with an acrylic sealer that was 50% peeled/worn off. My shoes stuck to the floor. It was nasty. Not what I was expecting for $270 a night. The eggs in the morning breakfast were inedible. Likely powdered. The rest of the breakfast was good. Other than these two issues, everything else was adequate. Please have your floors stripped. You don’t put acrylic polish on ceramic tile."
