Reviews of Residence Inn by Marriott Mystic Groton
"My recent stay at Residence Inn by Marriott Mystic Groton was unfortunately marred by a series of issues that left me highly dissatisfied. From the onset, the staff's demeanor was disappointingly rude and unhelpful, casting a shadow over what should have been a comfortable experience. One of the major concerns was the hotel's handling of ADA service dogs. Instead of accommodating and understanding, the staff made the process needlessly difficult. This lack of empathy and compliance with basic regulations is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the overall service of the hotel. Furthermore, a basic amenity like towels was mysteriously absent throughout the entire stay. This oversight is inexcusable and adds an extra layer of inconvenience to an already unpleasant situation. Clean and available towels should be a standard expectation in any reputable establishment. To compound matters, safety issues were evident in the form of doors that did not lock properly. This is a blatant disregard for the security and well-being of guests, and it left me feeling uneasy and vulnerable during my stay. Security is a fundamental aspect of any accommodation, and the hotel's negligence in this regard is deeply concerning. Equally frustrating is the lack of responsiveness from the hotel staff. Despite reaching out via email on three separate occasions to address these concerns, I have received no acknowledgment or resolution. This lack of communication reflects poorly on the hotel's commitment to customer satisfaction and raises questions about their accountability. In conclusion, my experience at Residence Inn by Marriott Mystic Groton was far from satisfactory. The rude and unhelpful staff, difficulties with ADA service dog accommodation, absence of basic amenities like towels, and safety concerns with malfunctioning locks have left a lasting negative impression. I hope the management takes these issues seriously and implements necessary improvements to ensure a more pleasant and secure experience for future guests."
"Excellent hotel in a wonderful place. The only thing that really bothered me was that the Front Desk Sheleena Perry is a person who should not be serving the public since her treatment of my children and myself was very unpleasant and very disrespectful. I was also able to observe how he disrespected several guests. To be honest, the hotel and other employees like Ivonne from the kitchen department are excellent, but as for Sheleena Perry, she damages the good reputation of the hotel."
"Reserved a room for 11 nights. Showed up to find out that there is no functional heater in the room and only a wimpy window air conditioner. Was told that there wouldn't be a room with a heater available for 3 to 4 nights. I was given a space heater that was honestly insultingly insufficient. Overall, this is a super shady practice. It's not cool to rent rooms without heaters, then just hope the guests don't ask about it."
"The room was dirty, I felt uncomfortable the entire stay. The breakfasts were horrible, and I just couldn't bring myself to eat anything that was being served. I checked out early and relocated to a better place. I did not feel safe as the back door to the parking lot was never locked and the lock in my room did not work most of the time. The safety latch was also very loose and probably wouldn't work if it had to. I raised these issues with the front desk staff and it was like talking to a brick wall...no response, no emotions, and no apologies. Not even a thank you let me write this down for the maintenance staff. The room included a window AC unit which was rather annoying. It was a 4.6 amp A/C unit plugged into a 3.5 amp max lamp outlet...a definite fire hazard. I feel I was shoved away into a hellish room because I had to have the government rate but this was beyond my level of acceptable. It's a horrible place, I will never stay here again. There was a smashed fly on the ceiling...who knows how long it had been there, hair in my freezer longer than any hair I have ever had in my life. Some of the dishes were not washed, so I had to rewash everything including the refrigerator interior. I certainly left the room cleaner than when I checked in. No one cares here. Go stay at the Residence Inn in Coventry. It is 1000 times better."
"We booked a 2 bedroom so our 6 year-old could have his own space. They gave us a handicap accessible room. It faced the non-smoking courtyard where people went to smoke including the woman at the front desk. Back door not locked that leads into the building which isn’t safe. Bedding was clean. My back has never hurt more from a bed. Both my husband’s back and mine were locked from sleeping on this bed. The tub/shower combo was clean with a brand new shower curtain. The shampoos and conditioners in the shower can be opened by anybody which I think is gross. The toilet in the room with the shower/tub combo was super low to the floor, close to the wall, and lopsided. The bathroom door to the handicap accessible bathroom didn’t stay open and was creaky when it slowly closed on its own. The AC in our room has a very loud clicking sound whenever it kicks on, which seemed like every few minutes during the night. The room was relatively quiet with the exception of the person above us. It sounded like they were bowling in their room. The sound of the shower above is was so loud it sounded like it was in our room. The light from the smoke detector in our room was very bright-flashing on randomly and repeatedly at times. It’s in very close proximity to the bed. The bedroom our son was in smelled like skunk weed twice so I’m guessing it’s seeping in from the courtyard. The breakfast was okay. The superstar of breakfast is the waffle maker. The pool was a cold salt pool. Not expected. My kid liked it. It was nice for us to have a separate space from our son after he went to bed at 8p, but not worth the almost $400 we paid for the night."
