Welcome to Hamilton West School, located at 36 Hammond Street in Hamilton, New Zealand. Our school is an establishment and point of interest that strives to create an environment where our children feel a sense of identity and belonging. We take great pride in the quality relationships that exist between our teachers, parents, and students. At Hamilton West School, we promote a restorative approach to relationships, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.

We are particularly proud of our students' academic, cultural, artistic, and sporting achievements. A significant percentage of our students consistently achieve at or above the expected level for their age or year group. It is always a joy for us to celebrate the fact that many of our past pupils receive academic and sporting awards, and hold leadership roles at the local high schools.

As a full primary school, we place strong emphasis on reading, writing, and mathematics, while also providing a rich and varied curriculum immersed in Inquiry Learning. Our teaching programs are designed to meet the individual needs of our students, and our dedicated teachers are enthusiastic about providing quality learning opportunities. We offer a range of learning support and extension opportunities to ensure every student can reach their full potential.

At Hamilton West School, we believe in giving students a voice. We value their input in shaping what is taught in the classroom, the school environment, and recreational and sporting activities. We offer a wide range of summer and winter sporting codes, as well as options for students who prefer less competitive physical activities. Our school has produced students who have received major awards and gained representative honors in various sports.

We take great pride in our Kapa Haka group, which represents our school in competitions and assists with many of our school occasions. Additionally, we provide various musical opportunities, including the formation of a school band each year. We are privileged to be the Principal of this outstanding New Zealand school.

Our school values reflect our commitment to education and personal growth. We encourage students to pursue all knowledge to enhance their thinking (Whaia te matauranga hei paenga mo te Hinengaro). We learn together (Ako), care for each other (Manaakitanga), always strive for our best (Rangatiratanga), take responsibility for the environment (Kaitiakitanga), and respect each other (Whanaungatanga).

We are truly proud of our students' achievements, and we share their learning and successes with you through the Seesaw platform. However, there is only so much we can showcase on this platform. To enable us to celebrate your child's learning with you, we are holding "Celebration of Learning" sessions in Week 9 of this term. Please book a 15-minute time slot by logging into www.schoolinterviews.co.nz. The link will close on Monday, September 11th at 12:00pm, and no more bookings will be taken beyond this time.

We encourage you to bring your child to these sessions as it provides them with an opportunity to share their learning, celebrate their achievements with you, and showcase examples of work they are truly proud of.
