Welcome to the Institute of Registered Music Teachers of New Zealand (IRMTNZ) | Ako Puoro! Located in Hamilton, Ross View Terrace, our establishment is the premier professional organization for private music teachers in Aotearoa New Zealand. Established by an Act of Parliament, we are dedicated to setting standards for teaching and supporting music teachers in building and maintaining successful practices.

At IRMTNZ, we believe that music is an essential part of life, and we are here to help both teachers and students thrive in their musical journey. Our members are highly qualified and passionate about teaching people of all ages and skill levels to make music. In addition to providing access to exceptional teachers, IRMTNZ hosts regular national conferences with renowned presenters, offering great networking opportunities for our members. We also offer a range of distance learning music teacher training courses, ensuring that our members have access to ongoing professional development.
