Dance NZ
About the Business
Welcome to Dance NZ, located at 20 Wellington Street in Hamilton, New Zealand. We are an establishment that offers a unique form of movement known as The Nia Technique. Combining dance, martial arts, and healing modalities, Nia is the perfect activity for people of all ages to have fun, improve fitness, and enhance overall well-being.
At Dance NZ, we offer both in-person and online classes. When you book a class, you will receive a link to view a 24-hour replay of the class afterwards, giving you the flexibility to fit it into your schedule. If you are unable to attend a class, simply fill out a form to reschedule or cancel.
Our classes take place at various locations, including Waikato Sports Fishing Club on Grantham Street in Hamilton CBD and St Johns Hall on Wellington Street in Hamilton East. We also offer senior mobility and movement classes in Hamilton and Raglan.
In our Nia dance classes in Hamilton, we create a welcoming and inclusive environment for people of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels. Whether you are an experienced dancer or a complete beginner, Nia is accessible and enjoyable for everyone. The gentle and fluid movements of Nia can be adapted to suit your own pace and comfort level.
For seniors, Nia offers numerous benefits such as improved joint mobility, balance, and flexibility. As we age, these aspects become increasingly important for maintaining a high quality of life. Nia movements gently stretch and strengthen muscles, improve range of motion, and enhance coordination. Regular participation in Nia classes can lead to increased flexibility, improved posture, and a greater sense of body awareness.
In addition to the physical benefits, Nia also promotes mental and emotional well-being. The rhythmic and expressive nature of the dance encourages self-expression, creativity, and stress reduction. Our Nia classes often incorporate elements of mindfulness and meditation, allowing participants to tune into their bodies and cultivate a sense of inner peace and relaxation.
We also offer specific Nia classes for Parkinson's patients. The rhythmic and repetitive movements in Nia can help improve motor control and coordination, which are often affected by Parkinson's. The focus on balance and flexibility can counteract the stiffness and rigidity commonly associated with the condition.
When you book and pay for a class at Dance NZ, you will receive a Confirmed Order email that contains a Zoom Link and registration to attend in-person. Join us today and experience the joy of Nia dance while improving your physical and mental well-being.

"Thank you, Belinda, my body feels so much stronger since I started NIA dance and your gentle guidance through both new and repeat routines helps my body learn and remember at a deeper level whilst my busy mind finds a place of rest and joy."
"Belinda is a wonderful teacher and all her classes are well prepared and easy to follow. She encourages her dancers to interpret the movement in their own way so there is no wrong or right way to do any of the moves. These classes are great for beginners or experienced dancers."
"Nia dance has become that something new I needed to fill a void. The gentle movement engages and energises the entire body. Belinda is a fantastic instructor. If you’re not a dancer and feel a bit intimidated then come along we can be that together."
"Loved our class today as always. The movements were specially targeting the spine today....all 26 vertabrae! As the dance flows from one movement to the next and progressively builds upon the previous movement, it is easy to follow and learn new routines. I feel that balance, core strength, flexibility and co-ordination are all coming together nicely."
"My first time doing Nia and it was delightful to be outside under the trees with birds and butterflies and worms dancing along with us. Belinda is a wonderfully engaging instructor. The class was just the right pace for an out of shape beginner."
