We are an establishment, point of interest, and school that is dedicated to nurturing a whānau (family) of innovative learners through positive relationships and real-life experiences immersed in nature, culture, and community. At Play and Learn, we believe that through play, children build perseverance, resilience, and language skills, while also understanding their role in the world. Our programs include center-based nature activities, a nature playgroup, and a nature kindergarten. Established in 1995 by Jan Beatson, Play and Learn has been providing high-quality education and care for over 28 years. We have seen numerous tamariki (children) go on to achieve outstanding results in leadership, academics, and sports. Our innovative programs, in conjunction with our stable, knowledgeable, supportive, and experienced kaiako (teachers), ensure that we set high expectations for all tamariki and provide maximum opportunities for learning and development through play.

We value individual strengths and personalities, as well as our unique community, customs, culture, and identity. Strong relationships with parents/whānau/fanau are critical for holistic development. We recognize that the first seven years of a child's life are vital for their physical, mental, and intellectual health and wellbeing. This critical time allows us to cultivate great potential and develop emotional, social, and cognitive skills that are essential for academic learning and life.

Our ability to deliver specific "Out and About" and "Nature" programs is what sets us apart from other ECE services. Our "Out and About" programs explore and give meaning to the local community, while our Nature Kindergarten provides dynamic outdoor learning experiences in empowering environments. Small groups of children learn through relationships, play, language, support, and experience, preparing them for life, inquiry, and the joy of learning.
