Welcome to Sherwood Playground, a delightful establishment located at Auckland, Glencoe Road, 145 in New Zealand. Sherwood Reserve playground in Browns Bay is now open and has undergone a fantastic forest-themed makeover. Thanks to the efforts of the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board, this old playground has been upgraded to offer a truly enchanting play experience for children of all ages.
The central feature of this playground is a magnificent wooden castle pavilion complete with a drawbridge and other exciting play equipment. Children can explore a climbing module with a slide, monkey bars, swings, a seesaw, and enjoy a large shade sail area. One of the highlights for kids learning to ride scooters is the wide concrete paths that provide easy access throughout the playground.
Exciting additions are on the horizon for Sherwood Playground. The eagerly anticipated 'Floor as Lava' play feature, designed with input from Northcross Intermediate students, is set to be unveiled soon. This large obstacle course promises endless fun and adventure. Additionally, an assortment of beautifully carved wooden furniture crafted by inmates from the Northland Region Corrections Facility in Kaikohe will add a unique touch to the playground.
While the majority of the play areas are now accessible, there is a fenced-off section that includes the Serious Air Swing, which is currently undergoing work for the 'Floor as Lava' feature. Once this stage is complete, the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board plans to organize a special celebration early next year.
The final phase of the playground upgrade will see the installation of a rope climbing tower and crow's nest, expected to be completed next autumn. These exciting additions will provide even more opportunities for children to let their imaginations run wild and create unforgettable memories.
