Welcome to Takapuna Learning Space, located at 124 Shakespeare Road in Auckland, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, our institution is dedicated to providing a unique and nurturing learning environment for children.

At Takapuna Learning Space, our philosophy is centered around the importance of relationships. We believe in equal partnerships between children, caregivers, whanau (extended family), community, and the environment. These relationships are built on a foundation of kindness, which is evident in every caregiving moment and daily interaction.

We deeply value children as free and equal human beings, allowing them the freedom to tune into their bodies and engage in play. Each child is supported to develop and explore at their own pace and readiness. Our everyday environment is designed to offer familiarity and consistency, allowing each child to feel secure and confident. Communication is reciprocal, ensuring that each child's needs and interests are heard and respected.

Our teachers play a crucial role in modeling the values of our center. They embark on their own journeys of learning and growth, sharing their passion and joy with the children. This empowers each child to express themselves in various ways and discover their unique identities.

We strongly believe in the importance of parent and whanau participation. By embracing partnerships with local and wider communities, we celebrate the rich diversity of languages and cultural significance that families bring to our daily experiences. We acknowledge Te Whaariki as our curriculum document and the Treaty of Waitangi, recognizing our partnership with Maori children and whanau. We draw inspiration from the principles and practices of Emmi Pikler and the Reggio Emilia philosophy.
